Now let me show you the content of the final diy kit! The only step left is to stick together and bind the four remaining sticks with the notch in a X at top and bottom and the lantern 🥰 Offering the lantern in this way makes it a not only easier to transport. #grumpybobcreations #handmade #wip

040

Grumpy Bob Creations @grumpybobcreations.bsky.social · 03/06/2025

Now it is time to partially assemble the lanterns by sewing the individual parts together 🧵 #grumpybobcreations #handmade #wip #crafting #lantern

030

Grumpy Bob Creations @grumpybobcreations.bsky.social · 01/06/2025

I usually drill a hole somewhat below the middle of the sticks we are going to use to stabilise our lantern in the final steps, cut out the rest and file a bit to achieve the notch in the middle. Two more holes at the end and we are good to go! #grumpybobcreations #handmade #wip #crafting #lantern

Somehow my Dokomi prep-support isn't supporting 😿 Either he is playing with my paper scraps or sleeps under the table. So I guess it's all on me again 🙈

Grumpy Bob Creations @grumpybobcreations.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

And we continue with lantern crafting! At least for a bit 😊 The next step is to drill holes into the plastic foil in order to prepare it to be tied together in the next step. #grumpybobcreations #handmade #linocut #print #printmaker #paper #yokai #maneki #kappa #wip #crafting #lantern

Tomorrow is #japantag & I will part of the bijutsu pop-up store 😱 It is open between 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM and you can find it on the Immermannstraße, right at the intersection between Spherebay and Shochiku in 'the box' at the 'Me and All' Hotel Düsseldorf. #grumpybobcreations #handmade #artistalley

Off to the next step in the lantern crafting process! Glueing the wood sticks to the prepared foils. #grumpybobcreations #handmade #linocut #print #printmaker #paper #yokai #maneki #kappa #tanuki #wip #crafting #lantern

Grumpy Bob Creations @grumpybobcreations.bsky.social · 21/05/2025

Usually the point within the lantern crafting where I start panicking, is when I have to cut a bunch of wood and drill an infinite amount of holes into it with my crappy equipment because this takes FOREVER. But not this time! This time I got lucky and my dad was so kind to help me ❤️

Grumpy Bob Creations @grumpybobcreations.bsky.social · 19/05/2025

After drying comes gluing! Followed by more drying of course 😅 Each print will be hand glued to a 0,2mm thick transparent foil. This gives it more stability and prevents the paper from being damaged easily. 😊 #grumpybobcreations #handmade #linocut #print #printmaker #paper #yokai #maneki #kappa

I will not only bring freshly printed cork coaster sets to the pop-up store, but also a few freshly printed sketch books 😸 They also make great con-hons in case you need a new one or forgot yours! #grumpybobcreations #japantag #handmade #linocut #linoprint #printmaker #duesseldorf #origami #cat

The paper I usually print on (right) vs the paper I use for my lanterns (left). It's super thin and I love how many details are shining through! #grumpybobcreations #handmade #linocut #linoprint #printmaker #artistalley #paper #lokta

Not sure if I ever showed this cool feature of my tote bags before but: THEY HAVE POCKETS! One additional one on the backside that can be closed with a zipper. When I saw this I knew I needed to buy these to print on them 😍 #grumpybobcreations #handmade #screenprint #japaneseprints #pockets

One of the all time best sellers is my “Moon-Bunny” print, based on a Japanese fairy tale. Unfortunately it’s also one of the “hard to print” designs. #grumpybobcreations #handmade #linocut #linoprint #printmaking #printmaker #printing #prints #yokai #japanese
