I preordered Light & Earth & Marrow by @jeanniemarschall.bsky.social a while ago and almost forgot about it, so what a lovely surprise when it arrived this week. Look at how cute the packaging is, and the beautiful bookmark! I can't wait to read it. 💙📚

In audiobooks I'm currently starting the Library System Reset series by K.T. Hanna, narrated by Andrea Parsneau, another of my favorite narrators. So far it's cozy cute and I'm enjoying the magical library setting. The book feels a lot like a video game, so much so that I wish it were a game. 💙📚

The second time I visited Sue was in 2023 and was in a much better place in life. I think the difference in my happiness is visible.

Parable of the Talents got real heavy, real fast so I'm taking a little mental health palette cleanser with a short story, What May Rise From The Ashes by Susanne Schmidt. The heroine is an 80 year old librarian, how can that not be great?

Mr. had his monthly weigh in today and he's down 1.5 lbs from last month which for a cat is extreme. The Vet will see him next week; his last labs were great but the weight loss has me very worried. He's been with me for 17 years and for a long time, he was my only source of unconditional love.

aebrossbooks.itch.io/cybersnow This was a cute dystopian, queer retelling of Snow White. I loved how the author represented neurodivergent characters in a thoughtful, kind, and realistic way. I saw myself and my wife in the characters, watching the love story unfold was so sweet. @aebrossbooks.com

Starting Black Reading Month early with Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. The first time I tried to read it was summer 2000 and it was too painful for me, emotionally. I was scared to try it again but I'm seeing the hope in it this time, which is doing my heart good. 📚💙

I read* Fellside by M.R. Carey, narrated by Finty Williams** this weekend and it was extraordinary. I almost gave up early on due to a graphic body horror scene involving medical abuse but I'm really glad I didn't. The ending was unexpected and very satisfying. I highly recommend it. 💙📚

This feels kind of pathetic, I thought I had traveled more. I excluded states I've just driven through. I understand conceptually why DC is not on here since it's not a state, but I think it should have been included.

I wondered how a black woman got appointed to head the CDC, I assumed it was so they could scapegoat her when the next big public health crisis hits. That's probably still true, but this headline explains a lot. Tell me, what does abortion have to do with disease control?
