gets beat. doesn’t move his feet. free hand comes off the stick. benson works hard and makes it obvious he’s being interfered with. idk why so many people are willing to give dach the benefit of the doubt here. he creates the call losing his guy and his arm moves before his feet do.

i just can’t get too miffed about this kind of game. the puck just wouldn’t go in (legally). if this game happened after three wins instead of three losses, i think folks would feel much differently. they didn’t give up a goal!

Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history -- which is no doubt true -- but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a war-time economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks. The time has come for loyal Americans to Sacrifice. ... The Montreal Canadiens will not win the 2027 Stanley Cup
I'm ready to be wrong about this, but I'm willing to say that deep down, you probably agree.

That second line centre you've been emailing Locked On Canadiens about? He's not here yet and teams don't seem to be all that willing to let those kinds of guys go. That right shot defenseman the Habs spent a fifth overall pick on three summers ago? He's got two NHL games under his belt and a has never played more than 60 games in a season. We'll see what he brings to training camp in September. Come to think of it, we'll see what the entire defense looks like later this month. It's not totally clear what the Habs' defensive pairings will look like. The goalie monster? That is still more Cerberus than Orthrus. Again.

Since the Habs were eliminated by the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Hurricanes in May, they have only subtracted from their NHL roster with the trade of Brendan Gallagher and the departure of Joe Veleno. They have also added nothing to their NHL roster. The Montreal Canadiens may as well have been in one of those sci-fi stasis chambers filled with green, bubbling fluid from the time Jakub Dobeš signed his extension until the golf tournament kicks off in the coming days.

The team that rode hot goaltending from Dobeš and unlikely primary scoring from Alex Newhook was still about half-way to a Stanley Cup. Then they did nothing.

And that's okay.

In every series he played in, Dobeš was a target for contact from the Habs' opponents. It was probably the worst against Buffalo with the Sabres taking some pretty healthy runs at the Habs' rookie netminder and never missing an opportunity to chirp him. Dobeš, predictably, gave it right back to the Sabres. Which is why, in his infinite wisdom, Kevin Bieksa said it was concerning Dobeš was engaging in this behavior. He called it a waste of energy. Funny enough, he didn't say it was a waste of energy for the Sabres to be doing the same thing.
