This one wasn’t intended to be a cover, but Richard loved it very much. I was inspired by the lake scene from Lilith (1964) where Jean Seberg kisses her reflection. I feel it encapsulates the themes of magic, duality and identity. ‘A haunted future’ as a close friend had also observed in the piece.

the black and whites for the landing page when i get that set up! i wanted to hit all the big things up top: the contents (slimy) the mystery (what the hell is that thing) and the tone (what's with the sultry sultry pose....)
black and white ink drawing of gabby lounging in a chair sexily. his arm is melting and he seems put out by it. he's lit strongly from the front and surrounded by pictures with crosses on them, save one: morven

Every time I see a development in your character art and scenes or additional characters, they just gain more and more wondrous depth. I feel that pain of reinvention, though, sometimes it's needed so the very first fan (the artist) to stay engaged.

Character design re-hauls for Jarret and Ilya I put together while writing "The Gods are Still" - a butch werewolf and her recently divorced witch traveling companion. Check out their roadtrip: www.honeyfeed.fm/novels/33535 | 💀🎨 | #OC | #yuri | #butch4femme | #fantasy
Jarret Atomo, she/her. She has short, choppy brown hair, huge scars across her nose, lips, cheeps and throat. The reference shows the different layers of her leather armor, traveling cloak details, and her color palette. Ilya Finalwind, she/her. She dresses in a flowing light-blue robe with a deep hood, a dark traveling cloak, and her ears and hair are covered by a black wrap. Her clothing is adorned in moon and sun motifs.

Come to think of it, all of my choices are grounded somewhere in modern day or sci-fi. I know I loved dragons and fantasy and such as a kid too, but it doesn't seem to be a genre that stuck in the long run as far as games go.

Ah, Mass Effect. Space dating awakening. Now that I think about it, it was probably my first RPG game. The dark aesthetic coupled with the incredibly written character arcs just oozes in all my work.

The Portal games blew my mind with the first-person puzzle mechanic, two of my favourite things combined together and an experience I hunt for all the time. Its dry sense of humour coloured all of my writing afterwards too.

Replayed it from start to end probably three times, because for some reason I thought that was the best way to get a better team to beat the finale.

Pokemon! I played Ruby in a simulator. Because, again, no money for consoles, or cartridges once I had a Gameboy Advance. I appreciated the time speed-up feature in the sim, though.

Sims was always plagued with too many DLCs, and I had all of them save for... Uh... The Holiday one? My favourite was the magical setting, it had so much content that I don't think I saw all the possible spells and potions. Also my first experience discovering queer relationships. Damn.

I can't recount the number of times I played and replayed the Halo trilogy, on my own and multiplayer. We couldn't afford to buy consoles, so I was mooching off of friends and the itch for Halo was always there. Halo 2 was my fav because you could play Arbiter!

I feel I'd be a traitor if I didn't include Bionicle in some way. The movies and books had a stronger impact on my storytelling, but nothing captures that magical, spooky experience of playing MNOG as a child. It's truly still a masterpiece of a Flash game.

Grim Fandango, hands down, established a life long obsession with skulls and skeletons. And not just any; stylish, elegant and full of charm. Art deco, blues and 1920s-50s cemented as my favourite art period.

DOOM and Quake come as no surprise. When I was old enough not to hide behind my parents while they played and get at the controls myself, I played every DLC available. They shaped my love for monsters, brutalist architecture and high standards for level design.

My entry for MALxHF's Heroic Fantasy contest is finished! 53k words, written over two months about two women - one a beast, the other a witch - who together journey to end the reign of the gods. THE GODS ARE STILL. Read here: www.honeyfeed.fm/novels/33535 Cover by @twendytwo.bsky.social | 💀📝
A digital illustration with a limited, desaturated palette. It depicts two cloaked women, one with a hood and the other holding a heavy sword. The hooded woman is reaching out toward the other, whose face is covered in dark shadows. Behind her bursts a dark, twisting shadow that bursts with teeth and claws and thorns and vines. The title and author's name are in bright red text.
"THE GODS ARE STILL"
"BITEGHOST"A screenshot of the novel's synopsis.

"The Gods are Restless.

For centuries, otherworldly gods have invaded the land by possessing the bodies of humans to spread their influence. They wreak havoc, destroying their hosts in the process, before discarding them like trash and moving on to the next. Their power is unmatched, and no human has ever withstood their corruption. Except one.

The Gods are Planning Something.

Grizzled adventurer Jarret Atomo has had enough. Having learned the truth behind the gods’ authority, Jarret shoulders the weight of saving the world from their schemes as the only one who can lock them away.

The Gods are Fallible.

Forming an alliance with an icy witch, the unlikely pair of heroes set out to overthrow the Lord of Spring and challenge his seemingly unequivocal rule... by devouring him whole.

The Gods will Pay.

[Content Warnings: violence, misogyny, blood/gore, body horror, rape/pedophilia (mentioned, not shown), abandonment, death/murder, religious zealotry/cults]"

I wished there was more storytelling involved with the characters. I know the whole point of XCOM games is the emergent stories created through play but I'm basic and just want more script.

Addendum: you do have free hosting platforms like Neocities and ComicFury, but my suggestion is to do with free CUSTOM, self-hosted websites. In the end, the problem always boils down to how much longer an existing platform continues to work before you have to switch again.

But if you're feeling committed, then look up the above terms and have a gander. There are lot of options in that quadrant of webdev.

The only problem is that static site generators come with a coding learning curve and I would need to dig around for the most plug-and-play option, if it exists. Comic templates are also hard to come by in that format.

I wished I had a guide ready of some sort to contribute to website set up for all the comic artists who need to migrate off Tapas now. Mainly to say that it IS possible to have a free site (besides the cost of the domain name) when you go with a static site generator and host via GitHub/Netlify.

I'm not even sure if I have a favourite colour nowadays, the mysterious deep tones of emerald, wine red and navy rotate for the right occasion. But beware if I see a navy piece of clothing in the store, that item will exert gravity on me like Jupiter.
