I am SO sick of this, like how is this acceptable? Why are tax funded shelters no longer taking cats from the public? Especially cats that were clearly pets that have been DUMPED. House cats are not wild, feral cats are still domestic animals, none of this is sustainable and it is CRUEL to both the

Phoenix is still tiny but very much acts like a kitten his age. We’re taking the growth and head stuff one day at a time, it still seems within normal limits for a runty baby, but given how the whole litter was there could definitely be additional stuff going on with him.

Phoenix is doing really well (but still small) and we have our outstanding backlog of veterinary bills finally paid off thanks to some very kind people, so next step is working toward raising the money for his palate surgery. And for him to start growing, or it will be ages before he’s big enough.

We had to say goodbye today to the best dog I’ve ever had. 😭 We knew the time was coming for a while now, but it doesn’t get any easier. His hips became problematic years ago and we’d been managing his pain, but recently he’s been having a harder and harder time getting up. Love you, Reinhardt.

At the vet with Phoenix and Wendy for his four week check up! He’s mostly doing really good, chest is better, diarrhea stopped, but uh… he’s not really growing.

Phoenix is on antibiotics and we hooked an oxygen concentrator up to Wendy’s incubator and his ribcage is already looking a lot better! Unfortunately the antibiotics have given him terrible diarrhea, so we’re working on that now. Still gaining weight and very opinionated!

We did unfortunately lose Pegasus and Griffon. Phoenix has been doing good and gaining, but today it became obvious that something is not right with his chest, we’re worried he may have developed flat chested kitten syndrome (or FCKS, which is close to what I said when I got the photos from Wendy).

Cannot properly emphasize just how amazing Wendy is as a neonate kitten foster- all three kittens are still alive and gaining! Griffin is a little lethargic (the neurological kitten with no cleft) at the moment so we’re a little worried, but he hasn’t gotten worse so fingers crossed.

Stopped by Wendy’s to get some photos and video, the kitten with the cleft palate is still doing good! That’s… a pretty good sized cleft, though. She’s showing signs of neurological issues similar to CH, but we won’t know the degree of severity til she makes it long enough to get some muscle tone.

Spine and nerves seem fine, aside from the tail being shaped like an old timey car crankshaft. First several skeletal assessments were okay, too, but as he’s grown I’m increasingly worried something is wrong structurally with his hips. He lays weird, and he’s definitely sensitive about them lately.

Yeah, the surgeon that did her enucleation surgeries seems to have had a hard time with her very small muzzle, when they removed her eyes it pulled her mouth up and now she has a permanent smile. She also has the finest, softest, and most easily tangled fur texture I’ve ever seen on a cat

Yep! It is supposed to be pretty rare, but we currently have two of them (Klinefelter type, not chimera) and I’ve seen quite a few in the last couple of years. They tend to have quite a few health issues, unfortunately. Flibbit has a good bit more going on than Sue.

His name is Flibbit, by the way, and he has a little orange heart on one of his back feet. He also has an orange brother named Nemo who has just as many medical issues as he does. A friend who has her own cat rescue (Super Furiends) named him Flibbit and it stuck. 😔

He is definitely a he, he had testicles and we had to have him neutered and everything. He has Klinefelter’s syndrome, which is one of a handful of scenarios in which male calicos can happen. We actually have two of them at the moment (I work in special needs cat rescue)

lol yeah, I work in special needs cat rescue- he has Klinefelter’s and a whole host of other health issues. We actually have two male calicos with Klinefelter’s right now, Flibbit and Sue. I’ve seen like…. A lot more of them over the last three years or so.

Had to run out to grab dog food for Rein and they had the new Warrior Cats blind bags… I love it when my extremely specific niche interests (blind cats) are catered to. Also- cheating blind bags is my hobby and I’m a little ashamed how effective I am at it.
