Out of town turds commenting on every local media about the PPS “rightsizing” controversy with “just vote red”. Yeah that’s the path to robust and well funded public education.

In between a barrage of gambling, insurance, pharmaceutical, and laundry scents ads I see some for something called Vinted that’s trying to convince people that you can buy vacations with things you can sell from your closet.

I’d forgotten about it when I finally got obsessed with Alice’s music, but the other day my local jazz station played a selection for Coltrane’s 100th birthday celebration and my jaw dropped! So yeah I finally grabbed a copy.

David Zaslav performed his mission perfectly. Ruining Warner Brothers just enough so some idiot could buy it, and now he gets to laugh his way to the bank as the debt bomb explodes in the distance.

I’ve never been able to take talk of decline in Portland very seriously because my mind always returns to the collapsed and desolate cities of the Great Lakes/rust belt/midwest that I grew up around and nothing here has ever compared.

One of my least favorite social media replies is when someone posts a negative review of something and there’s a bunch of replies that say: “That sucks I was looking forward to that.” Your interest in something can’t withstand the disdain of one internet rando?

The Atlantic’s latest bit is article after article filled with awe that the Republicans are just gutter racists and not speakers of some radical centrist truth.

It flips the script on horror movies making characters make dumb decisions to move the plot forward by having dumb characters make actually pretty smart moves and of course some dumb ones, but all of them make sense for the characters.

Tremors(1990) is also a nearly perfect film. Its characters, dialogue, tension building, and creature effects are all great.

I’m obsessed with the trashy Discovery show Eye of the Storm. It’s the epitome of the meme: “Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you're the one filming it.”

Halloween (1978) is so perfect I kind of wish it never became a franchise. Those final shots of the houses at night. The lingering chill. The score. The terror of the children.

Someone in my neighborhood still rides one those stupid tall bikes. It’s like seeing one of the last of an endangered species out in the wild. No lights. Maybe embarrassed or maybe secretly wants to be hit.
