when I was a kid, my mom used to regularly tell me that I was so sensitive to animals solely because I was young 27 now and guess who just spent 10 minutes getting snails off his driveway under the pouring rain to get his car out even though he's already very late

Hubble image of Arp 140, also known as NGC 274 and NGC 275. A barred spiral galaxy and a lenticular galaxy from an interacting pair. Lenticular galaxies have large central bulges and flattened disks like spirals, but no spiral arms. Credit: NASA, ESA, R. Foley, G. Kober Source

Two side-by-side galaxies fill the image. The left galaxy is a bright spiral galaxy bursting with blue star clusters, crossed by dark brown dust lanes. The right galaxy is a lenticular galaxy. It bright yellow-ish white center that gradually becomes more transparent, emitting a hazy glow. Distant stars and galaxies dot the background.

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉 Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace. You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

I'm not gonna lie, I kind of forgot about bluesky. I forgot how nice it is here, especially compared to some *other* places.

Hubble has spent 35 years in orbit! 🥳 Celebrate with an array of compelling images recently taken by Hubble: Mars, dramatic views of stellar birth and death, and a magnificent spiral galaxy: bit.ly/4jjsAs7 🔭 🧪

Composite shows four Hubble images in quarters. At top left is a crisp view of Mars in shades of orange, blues, and browns. At top right is planetary nebula NGC 2899, which is shaped like a single macaroni noodle, with its central torus appearing semi-transparent and blue and green, and its top and bottom edges in orange. At bottom left is a tiny portion of the Rosette Nebula. Very dark gray material shaped like a triangle takes up the center. At bottom right is barred spiral galaxy NGC 5335 with a milky yellow center that forms a bar surrounded by multiple blue star-filled spiral arms that wrap up counterclockwise.

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races. This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

I'm realizing this page is likely going to be a mix of the things I enjoy and my new policy of unrelenting insufferability against anyone who likes the current direction so if the latter half is too much for someone, I understand and I love you. Protect your peace.
