ok. now that things have slowed down to a bit more of a crawl and i'm not just pouring myself into sorting out streaming stuff... we're here! current project - and this'll be slow going: autumn and winter.
an screen capture of a fresh-editor for linux window. the editor has the following text typed into it:

---quote-begins-here---

I am upstairs in my study when the letter arrives.

I know that there's post because the butler rings the bell announcing it. One ring for visitors, two rings for more modest affairs. Like mail.

I'm in the middle of attempting to compose an essay, so my reaction isn't immediate. Rather, I try to keep my composure and stay my hand.

Methodically, the quill I'm writing with scratches ink across the page, filling it with my neat hand writing. There's a point to be made, here, about formality. About how it drives the world forward.

Even though this essay isn't strictly about etiquette, there are enough abstract hints in that direction that my mind keeps turning on the heart of that particular matter. I want to lay the quill down. To descend the many stairs that lead to the vestibule and to lay my eyes on the letter. It can only really be from one person. But my thoughts - the ebb and flow of my mind as it wanders hither and yon across the vast, intractable expanse of this subject pushes me ever onward until I've dotted every i and crossed every t.

When, at last, I inscribe a full stop, I breathe in. I allow my body to slow down. I let my nostrils smell the oak wood of the desk before me as my eyes take in the cyclical nature of my written argument, hands skimming across the warm parchment as it absorbs my whit and repartee. I'm not sure I'm happy with the way I've framed my thoughts, but this will have to do for now.

Heaving, I push my body upward, raising my eyes toward the window and the midday sun outside as it pours across the greenery of the back garden.

---quote-ends-here---

ok. done for today. here's the output. i stripped out the text, because that's spoilery and gives away what we're playing next. ;)
a stream-scene that has a blue background. the background is framed by red bars that have a gradient and in the centre of the image is a yin/yang dragon symbol.

the symbol is taken from pixabay, and was made by: clker-free-vector-images. i am using this piece here via the pixabay content license.

i love well-dressed men. so willy fog has always been one of my favourites. i wonder what these 5 folks have as /their/ favourites? @bresnanteddy.bsky.social @polarblzz.bsky.social ‪ ‪ @araquan.bsky.social @siyahamba.bsky.social @cavendishfox.com feel free to hijack this if i didn't tag you.
an image of willy fog, the titular lion from the show that aired in the 80's.

he is a slender lion, dressed in a brown suit with a red tie that has black polka-dots. he has a walking-cane that he uses to get around. his head is covered with a fine top hat and he wears no shoes.

in this picture, he has quite a stern expression.

if you see this, post your getaway vehicle: scontent-cpt1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/...
the "cyber car" design for the vehicle from the tv show automan, which ran from 1983-1984.

the car is - for the 80's - sort of futuristic looking and has lights all over it's body - sort of presaging the rgb madness that would take over the computer industry in the 2010's. but this is sleek and blue and beautiful. and arguably more tasteful than that rgb madness. don't get mad at me. i don't make the rules.

i did that test. [the politics one floating around.] it asked me what i thought i was at the beginning, i was like, "sure, yes, progressive leftist." and then blew right past that. lol:
this is a test result from findmypolitics, a website that has you take a test about your political beliefs and then gives you a rating based on how you answered.

i scored as a democratic socialist, with far left leans for the economic, social and governance categories, but came out less left for civil liberties and a bit right for system trust.

more mtg-progression-series work: the start/end scene: outer frame: scene name. inner box: three separate spaces, one for my avatar and two title text boxes for "welcome/goodbye" text with one content text box for "stream rules of the road" and "where you can find me" text.
obs start/end scene for the mtg-progression series.

this is a variation of the "wheel" scene. [where we spin the wheel for positive/negative player effects.]

in this scene we have:

a border with a jewel in the centre to let us know where we are. the jewel has a white background and the border is made of a light wood.

a middle with a parchment background texture. the middle has separate spaces for one image [an icon of my twitch avatar] and two text boxes.

these text boxes change contextually, given the scene. if it's the start scene, we get "greeting" text. if it's the end scene, we get "goodbye" text.

on the start scene, the top text box, which is next to my avatar is a "welcome" text box.

below this are stream rules of the road.

on the end scene, the top text box, which is next to my avatar is a "thanks for watching" text box.

below this are a list of places you can find me.

[these pieces of text are not present in this layout view, they will be added in obs itself.]

new scene for the mtg-progression series. the intermission scene: frame around the outside with a jewel for the word "intermission." parchment for the centre. jewel in the center of the screen for a countdown timer. [for when i take a break from the stream.] the centre jewel is a placeholder.
an intermission scene for the mtg-progression-series streams.

we have a wooden frame, as always, with a parchment centre.

the frame contains a "jewel" for the name of the scene [in this case it is the "intermission" scene.]

the centre has a secondary "jewel" - and this will be for the countdown timer that runs when i take a break from the stream.

more mtg-progression setup: i promised some edits, and i spent today trying some experiments. first abandoned experiment: try a darker wood. but it was just MUCH too intense. the second thing i wanted to see was what it would look like with more space: new wheel-scene: wheel in center + frame
new version of the wheel scene.

as before, there's a wooden frame around the outside. this houses a "white jewel" which is where the scene text will go. [in this case, it'll be called "the wheel of feast or famine."]

the centre of the scene will house a wheel that i can spin to determine the main colour folks will be playing during the match, but the wheel will also decide what stuff happens with the loser of the match.

more movement on the mtg progression series. this is the scene for the wheel of feast and famine. [this is where you spin for which colour you're playing in the forthcoming match and for what happens to you/your opponent next if you lose.] middle: wheel. outside: frame
an obs scene for a magic: the gathering progression series. in the series, players will spin the wheel to decide which colour they will have as their primary colour.

the frame has a white jewel against a wooden backdrop. the jewel is for written text [in this case, "the wheel of feast and famine" - to denote what this scene is.]

the background of the scene is a piece of parchment/paper.

ok. a LOT of movement on the mtg-progression series today. got the game scene put together. right now, it looks like this: i might do one or two small edits, but this is the basis of what i'm working with. middle: game. bottom left: player. bottom right: player. bottom middle: set/format.
an obs scene for playing a magic: the gathering progression series.

most of the scene is blank - this is where the game will go.
on the bottom left is some parchment, which is a dedicated player pane.
at the middle-bottom section, there's a jewel with a wooden backdrop for progession information [which set we're on or which format is being played, etc.]
on the bottom right is another player pane.

qrik started this, i'm just borrowing it: "when you dance with me, we dance forever, all night long to your favourites. hit music. on the radio. hit music. on the radio."
pope leo xiv talking into a microphone while other clergy stand in the background.

post a picture of yourself, wrong answers only:
an image of david q dawson from the movie "the great mouse detective" which is based on sherlock holmes. in this movie, holmes is a mouse, so dawson is too. qed, you might say!

anyhow, in this picture, he's wearing his signature dress of a long coat, red vest, and pants. the vest is hiding a white shirt which is augmented with a blue bow-tie. he's wearing a cap to top off the outfit.

dawson is a rotund mouse who is on the older side. he has face-fur in the form of a mustache.

a movie couple who would definitely have a podcast:
ruby rhod faces korben dallas in the movie the fifth element. ruby is smirking and korben is - as per korben - absolutely deadpan.

a meme describing how the "illiad" really is just called troy story and then people riffing on that by adding: "thanks, i hate it" and then "you got a friend in horse" when, of course, "YOU DO NOT HAVE A FRIEND IN HORSE."

this is the image of the zx spectrum from wikipedia.
