Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Misty Green is a sharp, funny and cynical look at Hollywood. The humor has a real edge to it and the satire works because underneath the laughs there’s something pretty ugly being said about the business, fame, money and how quickly Hollywood can discard people. 1/2 #NYFF64 #Filmsky🎬 #Moviesky🎥 100
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Godzilla Minus Zero is even better than Minus One. Takashi Yamazaki once again understands that Godzilla is about more than a monster. This is a story about living through trauma, surviving war and what happens when everyone expects you to simply move on afterward. 1/3 #NYFF64 #Filmsky🎬 #Moviesky🎥 210
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 26/09/2026NAZA is a difficult documentary to watch, but also essential. It looks at the war in Gaza through testimony from Israeli military and intelligence insiders and the way it lays out the machinery behind so much destruction and genocide it’s genuinely chilling. 1/2 #NYFF64 #Filmsky🎬 #Moviesky🎥 110
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 26/09/20261Nowhere to Lay My Eyes is another quietly fascinating film from Hong Sang-soo. Kim Min-hee is terrific, and I loved how something as simple as a family reunion becomes a thoughtful exploration of resentment, loneliness, mortality, art and why we create. 1/2 #NYFF66 #Filmsky🎬 #Moviesky🎥 110
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Iron Boy is a beautiful and deeply human coming of age story. The watercolor animation is absolutely gorgeous, with every frame feeling handmade and alive. It gives the film such a warm, personal quality that perfectly fits Christophe’s story. 1/2 #NYFF64 #Filmsky🎬 #Moviesky🎥 100

Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 26/09/2026James Gray’s Paper Tiger is the kind of old-school NYC noir we don’t get enough of anymore. It’s gritty, lived-in and completely absorbing, pulling you into a world of family, desperation, crime and people who get in way over their heads. 1/2 #NYFF2026 100

Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Just got out of seeing Endgame Encore. No spoilers. It got me even more excited for Doomsday than I already was so mission accomplished Unfortunately I hate the change they made to what I consider a perfect MCU film. If this becomes canon then I’m very happy I own endgame on 4K 000

Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Just saw Boogie Nights projected in 70mm and it felt like I was seeing it for the first time. Even though it was originally shot on 35mm, seeing it blown up to 70mm gives the images this incredible scale, texture and presence. There’s really nothing like watching a great movie projected on 70mm. 000
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Good to see it covers post production! I am confused about why aren’t daytime dramas included? Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Someone mentioned this in Toronto last week. Didn’t think it was true given his filmography. Definitely not on my bingo card for his next film. It does live up to his promise of never making a film in the modern world. 010
Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 22/09/2026#Primetime is creepy as hell. There’s this constant feeling that something is deeply off, and I loved how it digs into the morality of turning these confrontations into entertainment. Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Saw this last night too The Weight had me completely engaged right from the start, thanks to an excellent Ethan Hawke. Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Resident Evil is the kind of video game adaptation I want. Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Second screening of The Only Pickpocket in New York and I somehow liked it even more this time. John Turturro is phenomenal. Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 17/09/20261/2 Minotaur is an incredibly powerful slow burn that starts out as a family drama before becoming something much darker. Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I loved Wild Horse Nine last night! Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 15/09/2026This proposed federal film incentive is great for bringing production back to the U.S., but once again post production workers are an afterthought. Nothing here guarantees the editing, VFX, color, sound, etc. stays in the U.S. That work could still be outsourced. Guess movies just edit themselves 000

Greg Pomes @gregpomes.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Love of Your Life feels like the kind of sincere romantic drama Hollywood rarely makes anymore.
