🎵 MusicTrends.net now supports the new @listenbrainz.org user data export, making it easier to get started analyzing your listening history. Just add your ListenBrainz user token to your MusicTrends account, and the import will kick off automatically and run in the background. musictrends.net

After pushing a big release yesterday, looking into this now. Any idea how long the exports may take? Don't want to be pinging more than I have to.

Until yesterday, the only time I had heard the name Phoebe Bridgers was from a Winona Fighter song... www.youtube.com/watch?v=88E8...

Albums are getting some more attention, too. 💿 The overall, yearly, and monthly summaries now include a Top Albums display, making it easier to see which albums defined your listening during each period. 5/6

And you can look at that same listening history based on when the music itself was released, with new Release Year and Release Decade breakdowns. How much of your listening comes from the '70s? '90s? 2020s? Now it's much easier to see. 4/6

Greg Nilsen @gregnilsen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Many of the summary pages also have new charts showing how your listening breaks down by Listen Year. It's another way to see how your listening has changed over time, and which periods dominate your overall history. 3/6

Greg Nilsen @gregnilsen.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Even better, you can combine them. Want to see only the music released in 2025 that you actually listened to in 2025? Now you can. This one came from a user request by @lottajg@mastodon.social. Thanks for the idea! musictrends.net/listenbrainz... 2/6

I might be in the minority, but when interacting with AI agents, I'm not a fan of some of the commentary like "You were right!" or "Good idea!". Like, I KNOW, and I'm trying to get you to do the thing. Just rearrange your plinko boards to try and do it right next time! 😂

So, I went to add a few new features to MusicTrends.net, and that uncovered some optimizations needed, which triggered new feature ideas, etc., etc. Got some fun new enhancements coming up, hopefully this week!

Greg Nilsen @gregnilsen.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Very nice...I'll have to look into the details of implementing, but it sound better than keeping a 230GB file on hand and having to fingerprint to find the right user. I mean, it works, but wasn't very efficient!

I don't care if the Steam Machine gets to $2000, as it still seems like a better investment at this point.

Sure...I was working on a batch of performance updates last night, so let me get those pushed to the test environment, and then I'll share. And I'll have to manually run some of my planned background jobs for you since I haven't automated it quite yet. Hopefully this afternoon!

One of my recent projects has been building a music listening dashboard application based on Last.fm scrobbles and/or ListenBrainz listening history. While I built it for me, I think others might enjoy it as well, so I'm looking for some people to help test it out and provide some feedback.

When I was in college, we used to go to the local video store and rent the worst looking B horror movies we could find based on the covers, and usually to laugh at the terrible effects and plot lines. I definitely have some great memories from bonding over those movies.

Same, but I've been trying to buy as many directly from the bands/artists as I can. For me, the goal is to help them get as big a cut as possible. I've even bought a few vinyl combos to send more their way, and I don't own a record player. I'll gift them to those who do.

Now, I’m focused on finding my next opportunity in a Director of Product, Staff Product Manager, or Senior Product Manager role. I’m particularly interested in roles where I can help scale products, leverage new technologies, mentor teams, and drive clear, measurable outcomes.
