5/8 Where’s the money coming from? Our investigation reveals a group of funders under an entity called Canadian Energy Prosperity (CEP) funded these groups and met with them bi-annually behind closed doors at the Calgary Petroleum Club.

4/8 Some of these include known oil-linked groups such as Canada Action, Energy United, plus several lesser-known groups flying under the radar.

1/8 🚨 NEW: We found a network of 30+ pro-oil front groups coordinating, tracking progress, and reporting back to their funders about how they are shaping energy conversations in Canada. It looks like that was supposed to stay under the radar, except they left their platform completely public 👇

destroying Canada’s nature and sidelining Indigenous rights in the process doesn't seem to be in the "national interest"............... tacking the climate crisis should be a "national interest project" preventing more biodiversity loss should be a "national interest project"

The federal government must withdraw this bill, as it will lock us in a path of nature destruction. 75% of Canadians believe that protecting nature must be a “key consideration” when building the country. It’s time the government starts listening. 🧵 6/7

Greenpeace Canada @greenpeaceca.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
We have seen, time and time again, how “Build, baby, build” brings more nature loss, which, in turn, leads to lower quality of life, and increased health risks for industry workers and communities, none of which are good for a strong, healthy country. 🧵 5/7

Greenpeace Canada @greenpeaceca.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Instead, Carney’s government is locking us into a short-sighted strategy in which decisions about workers’ health and rights, living ecosystems–from rivers, forests to grasslands–and communities are subordinated to a logic of speed and profit, not care and protection. 🧵 4/7

Greenpeace Canada @greenpeaceca.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
This plan is certainly not building the backbone of a resilient economy, nor an economy for the future. 🧵 3/7

Greenpeace Canada @greenpeaceca.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
The federal government’s “flood the zone” strategy seems centred around one thing: build at all costs, no matter the impacts on nature or communities. 🧵 2/7

Greenpeace Canada @greenpeaceca.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Carney says this (Bill C-39) is a decisive moment for Canada, & he’s right: his government is deciding to remove decades-long environmental and labour protections to build more pipelines, bypass essential environmental protections, & sideline FPIC from Indigenous Peoples. 🧵 1/7
