And there we have it folks. Prices will continue to rise We need help to bring down our use of oil and gas. And there’s less available to do that because of what FF/FG thought might get them a couple of votes down the line. Special mention here for Labour who voted with them on this.

Thanks to @thenewshughes.bsky.social for asking @rodericogorman.bsky.social to write this piece for the Daily Mail Budget 2027 does nothing to allow people to bring down the amount of oil and gas they use. Jack Chambers has increased SEAI funding by 2% when grant requests have increased by 50%.

There is nothing in the budget that will help people to bring down their use of fuel. Carbon tax reductions will be eaten up by higher oil and gas prices Then what? There’ll be less €s available to allow people to take measures to lower their bills permanently

Students and their families are feeling the rising cost of living more than most. The Green Party believes that Budget27 should deliver a sustainable funding model for third level institutions and relief to students by raising the family income threshold from €65k to €120k for free fees

STATEMENT ON IRELAND/ISRAEL
FIXTURE
The entire FAI senior management and board need to consider their position. They have catastrophically mismanaged this situation from the outset. Rather than listen to and understand the mood of football fans, they have outsourced the decision to play onto the individual conscience's of the players. It is massively unfair to put this call on the shoulders of young players at the beginning of their careers. Making players vote the day before a match only divides the team.

While a Culture Card voucher for young people is to be welcomed, the Government cannot be giving with one hand and taking with the other. Senator Malcolm Noonan spoke this morning on one of the biggest barriers to cultural participation for young people - public transport access.

First day back for Dáil Éireann Climate change matters to people-it matters to everyone who has bills to pay because it affects the price of fossil fuels we're so dependent on. This term we're focused on short and long term measures to alleviate the cost of energy for households.

The Minister for Transport (also the Minister for Climate and the Environment fyi) was on radio this morning trying to justify the public transport fare hikes. These hikes are a political choice made by the Department of Public Expenditure, this is not about improving public transport services.

The Government has chosen to increase public transport fares, chosen to make passengers pick up the bill during a cost of living and climate crisis. Today @rodericogorman and @feljin_jose spoke to every media outlet in the country to express their frustration at this decision.

To raise public transport fares by 15% in the middle of a cost of living crisis is a slap in the face to these commuters, who see the hundreds of millions that Government has spent protecting some sectors from inflation costs, yet they are expected to pay out more, every day, every journey.

The Irish Language Commissioner, says that there are serious delays to the delivery of public services in Irish. We have a new generation of Irish speakers because of Gaelscoileanna over the last 20 years and other cultural reasons so there is a pool of young graduates who could be recruited from.

Something that we were really pleased to see while we were in Government was the free schoolbooks scheme But we know that many schools are insisting that students have laptops and tablets. Along with uniforms, voluntary contributions and other costs, that puts a lot of pressure on many parents.

“My thoughts today with all the victims of the horrific attack and their families. I know this day has been long anticipated by them and although nothing can ever take back the horror of what happened that day, I hope the verdict helps the process of healing.
To Leanne and everyone who intervened that day, all Dubliners owe you huge gratitude and respect. Despite the horror of the day, the bravery, love and care they showed that day should be remembered by all of us.”

Janet Horner- Green Party Councillor for the North inner City
