digger is kind of the movie i've been looking for this past four months since disclosure day - not the best movie i've seen in that time, but a wholly uncompromised major work

Really enjoyed this piece on a film I find very interesting. Can't say I have strong feelings about it as a response to Super Eyepatch Wolf as I don't watch him, but the stuff about what's cool (and flawed) about Return to Silent Hill is compelling. carolgrantr.substack.com/p/silent-hil...

not to say "everyone is being dishonest about the pop charts" but everyone is being dishonest about the pop charts. i like choosing texas. the pop charts are wholly compromised and most people have no obligation to keep up with them

how about some good news: new cat just dropped!!!!

a photo of a small, spotted wild cat, with orange fur and brown circular markings, staring up with big golden eyes.

Meet the First New Cat Species Discovered in 100 Years

A small, spotted tiger cat from Bolivia may just be the beginning of a wave of new small cat species.

This 10-year-old male tiger cat is the first of his species (named Leopardus tilcayo) known to science. He is approximately 18 inches from head to end of body and weighs only 3 pounds, making him smaller than the average domestic cat. This video was captured at the Senda Verde Animal Refuge in Bolivia’s Yungas region, where he currently resides.

as a consumer rights move, this is cool, but it's also obviously the end of physical games on xbox. the end of games as physical media is the end of games as documents rather than service objects. they will be like a play you cannot read. ephemeral. dependent on jailbreaking for history

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

concocting the world's worst anime. it's basically just zero satire v for vendetta, but instead v is literally jack the ripper. the girl protagonist is a potential victim who falls in love with him. jack the ripper disappeared because they ran away together

I don’t want this point to be lost in the discourse. Going digital-only means inequity for people who cannot afford internet or constantly purchasing new games. Libraries provide opportunities for people to experience games they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford, and that will be lost.

a24 founders are looking to cash out, or otherwise they desperately needed a cash injection because the money is gone. there's no real alternative explanation for why they'd make such a suicidally bad PR decision during Neon's fourth year making a power grab.

Amazon/MGM's bizarre handling of Luca Guadagnino over the years is pretty evident of their identity as a studio - they are more than capable of making great movies, but seem openly hostile to getting most of them seen.

I was 17 when my dad passed, and I'm 34 now. Come April 9th next year, I'll have spent more of my life after his passing than I got to live with him. He was very much like Albert Finney in Big Fish. I wish my wife could meet him.
