Nighttime Walk (May Contain Multitudes #144) | Amanda

Just two brain sisters taking a moonlit walk. Also, this time I added a transcript in the alt text. Is this helpful at all? I really struggle with descriptive alt text, but this much I can do. #plural #pluralart #comic
Title: Nighttime Walk

Panel 1:
Erin: "The day's are getting short, huh...

I guess I need to get out earlier to not miss out on the sunlight"

Panel 2:
Viola: Or how about you don't do that? I much prefer it this way.

Erin: Oh, hi Viola! Wanna keep me company on my walk?

Viola: I'm here, aren't I?

Panel 3:
Erin: hehe, you're like a vampire with
how you shun the sun!

Viola: Oh, I'm no vampire. I'm but a source of nourishment for them.

Erin: Aren't you also a demon though? Do vampires drink demon blood?

Viola: Hot lesbian vampires with good taste do. Of this, I am sure.

Erin: Makes sense to me!

Panel 4:
Viola: While we wait for a vampire lady to kidnap me, how about I tell you about all the ways in which humans annoy me?

Erin: Please do! It's strangely soothing.

This is how easy it is to make a "placeholder" asset without using genAI. Here, I'll include my placeholder NPC sprite so you can use for free! No need for costly LLM subscriptions, you're welcome!

I just posted this because I wanted to brag about my latest achievements in making a game (a mostly functional menu for loading a save file)

We just discovered that this rocky wall tile kinda looks like a frog when put next to a mirrored tile... It's not just me, right? Can you see the frog too?

What I would need is to do something about the fact that each time I add a quest flag to the game, it breaks all current save files. It makes testing the game more annoying.

The "load game" screen. For some reason, the "init()" function in the save_data resource script is called 43 times when I open this menu. I have no idea why. Is it worth fixing? Maybe not. But it bugs me.

It is kind of fascinating. Though it doesn't replace any other kind of rest that the body needs. Getting tired from fronting for extended periods of time is like it's own sort of fatigue.

By the way, I find alt texts really difficult to write. I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed by this. That said, if you are better at it than me, you're more than welcome to write me an alt text for anything I made. I'll make a new post with alt text (and of course give you credit, if you want).

Hold on, it seems like it works as long as I'm not selecting any text. Then it even understand what style I want to copy. I'm very confused, but I guess it works then.

Never mind, I get a "failed to add the resource" error popup, so it doesn't really matter. Maybe I should go back to use CSP with a virtual machine? I really *want* Krita to work and not having to deal with windows at all though.

I finally found how to make a new preset, except it doesn't seem to see the settings I've chosen at all. It just wants me to save the default settings, which seems kinda pointless

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
I find where to select a preset, but not how to save one. I once again miss using a commercial software where this stuff is just super intuitive.

Reading Krita's documentation trying to figure this out. Seems like you're supposed to be able to do it. Haven't yet found where this setting it though

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
Does Krita let you save text presets? Or do I just have to set everything manually every time I create new text?

I was wondering if I had accidentally drawn somewhere outside the canvas and it was inflating the file size somehow, so I did a selection outside the canvas and tried deleting. This somehow made the file size bigger and I'm now very confused

This could potentially be a problem for me in the long run if I'm using Krita. I have about 500GB free at the moment, which of course would take awhile to fill up with only .kra files... But it's not exactly negligible either
110
Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
I found that there is a setting to compress the Krita files more, at the cost of slower loading. So I try enabling that. ... And now it's only 2.9 GiB! Yay!

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Just for science I tried scaling the whole image to 50% size. This should mean there are 75% less pixels, right? But it's still 1.7 GiB. But I get that file size doesn't scale linearly with the number of pixels, so maybe this is normal? I don't really know. Files are way too large regardless

I almost never set the brush to overlay though. I always use layers for that. But I guess it can happen by mistake. Unlike ClipStudio, Krita has certain settings as global for every tool. Which I'm sure is convenient at times? But it's confusing when not used to it
010
Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 16/07/2026

Well, my search results are definitely looking better now. I won't say I can always tell something's slop (impossible to prove a negative after all), but I can confidently say that I feel the *absence of genAI slop* very clearly

Going by the Wikipedia article it seems like this has been around since the start of 2021. Has it really been that long?
100
Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
Trying to find the answer online, but I just find articles about like, machine generated images in the 70s. That's obviously not what I care about here

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
When did "AI art" first start being a thing? I searched for images from prior to 2023, but I swear some of the results are AI. Did all this start earlier than I remember?

Also the fact that they are so detailed means I have to deliberately not think about all the details that aren't relevant in the situation

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
I love the digital 3D models (one reason I miss ClipStudio), but they're not great for checking those simple things. Takes way longer to set up than just looking at a physical object at your desk.

Things like "about how much of the torso should be visible when looking from this angle"

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
The fact that it's so simplistic kinda makes it easier to double check how something is roughly supposed to look, without getting bogged down with details.

I have to admit, the wooden jointed artist doll I bought is a bit more useful than I gave it credit for. It's not as poseable as I'd hoped (and I don't think my expectations were unrealistic). But it is kinda nice for just quickly reminding myself of very basic perspective and anatomy stuff.

Maybe I'll try applying my minimal coding skills and make my own app for this. In Godot, because that's the only way I would be able to. Probably would be more work than I'd save in the long run, but at least I'd learn something from it

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
It's bizarre how many things that should be standard features just... aren't. Not that it's that hard to work around, but it's an inconvenience that shouldn't be that hard to solve.

I feel like the thing I want has to be readily available somewhere, without requiring any "AI", and I just don't know what to look for

Amanda 🏳️‍⚧️ @gravitybreakcat.bsky.social · 07/07/2026
Really all I want is a way to put up a bunch of images on my screen, and save that arrangement of images so I can easily open it again. The closest I have currently is to create a second krita document for said images and open in a separate window. But that's not really ideal
