Yes, that could happen, I hope fairly rarely as the dog may not be adoptable without at least some fostering. My current dog was beaten by what we think was a 10 year old child and he's still scared after 2 years with me, but he didn't bite a child, he definitely gave a warning, so no kids approach.

Awww! What a cutie! How sweet! I can't get mine on the bed or the couch, I don't know what they did to him, but he still won't. They broke a fang with what we think was a belt buckle as he screams if he sees a belt. He pooped me with his nose for the first time since I got him 2 years ago.
