Game design meme for me and maybe three other people on this site.

Guy looking at random encounters: "Wow! RPGs are grindy!"
Text overhead: "Random encounters help ensure that the the play experiences combat at regular intervals instead of avoiding fights and ending up underpowered, increasing the risk of quitting entirely."

If you're faced with this kind of threat, it'll be hanging over you any time you do something that displeases him. Best to just deal with it now and rebuild without the US. Without major structural changes to our government, the United States will never be a reliable trading partner again.

As a game gets more complex, there are more opportunities to make the wrong decision. By sticking with a simple system, you let a game design itself rather than a developer design a game. AAA almost never thinks this way anymore, and profit motive echoes in the developer's louder voice

I need everyone to understand that this kind of posting by Hegseth and his ilk is intended to seed the idea of kinetic warfare with Canada as acceptable and even desirable in the minds of everyday Americans. I urge all of you to actively resist this kind of rhetoric and push back on it at all times.

i think twitch did something like this recently as well and somebody asked the guy in charge of it "why couldn't yall make it opt-in, instead of having it on by default" and he was like "well if we did that then people wouldn't use it" and I think that should be illegal actually

I left Twitter in 2023, when I realized that Elon's changes had made the site useless for me. I had a half million followers, but his new algorithm drove my engagement numbers down to nothing. I wasn't actually reaching anyone. I was just providing cover for Nazis. So I left. You can too. Honest!

I haven’t been blind to the steady enshittification of Elon’s Twitter, but I’ve been telling myself that I still had a big platform — just under a half million followers — and the growing strength of misinformation on the platform meant I had a duty to stay and push back against it.
Except, as I slowly realized, I don’t have a big platform anymore. Engagement on all my posts is down dramatically under the new system, and a post that would’ve racked up a thousand RTs immediately is now lingering for days with a dozen or so.
I think my fellow (former) big accounts there need to realize that we’re experiencing a bit of a phantom limb syndrome. We still have a big number of followers, but they’re not actually seeing what we post and we’re not remotely having the impact that we once did (or at least thought we did).
Again, all we’re doing is giving our personal seal of approval and a sense of legitimacy to a place that’s rapidly becoming an alt-right hangout of grifters and grievance artists.
