Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 01/07/2025Looks like I should use sport mode more often. Awesome!insideevs.comScience Says Hard Acceleration Might Be Good For Your EV BatteryA new study has found that the occasional spirited acceleration in an EV is actually good for its long-term battery health. 0160

Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 01/06/2025First day of Winter. It was a great day to get out on the bike. Lots of people doing the same (or walking). Video at 4x speed. 000
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 27/05/2025Too many polititions have forgotten that they also work for the public. 021

Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 14/05/2025The Cortina is great. That carpet is even better! 110
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 05/05/2025Maybe, but he had space to his left to avoid Doohan. Compare with Ocon and Hamiltons geat sequence of corners. 030
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 03/05/2025Other countries have public development agencies leading by example, whereas its mostly private developers in AoNZ. Kainga Ora and Eke Panuku were doing some good things while they had political support 120
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 03/05/2025Yep, it comes into play for all sorts of stupid reasons, usually unrelated to density. Because the real issue here is that Auckland Council didn't like the previous government interferring with their planning processes 110
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 03/05/2025Thats right. The MDRS rules are a distraction in this case. They are only partially in effect, and can not be applied to many sites due to "qualifying matters". The bigger issue is that the Unitary Plan applies intensified infill rather than genuine density to the most common zones. 120
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 01/05/2025No love for the North Island East Coast Main Trunk at that time it seems. 000

Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 27/03/2025Did not know that - great stuff. But is the image from Dunedin? It looks like the London Crystal Palace from the 1851 exhibition. This image is from Dunedin apparently and is credited as - The Grand Dome By Night, oil on board, by A. Petersen, 1926. 110
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 24/03/2025Interesting article, and the team presumably do a similar analysis. The Red Bull car isn't doing Liam (nor previous drivers) any favours. Even Max is bagging the car. 010
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 23/03/2025Agreed. The racing bulls also apparently got caught out by the hard tyre lasting longer than initially expected. I think Lewis Hamilton was the only front runner that did 2 stops. 210
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 23/03/2025In a dry race they have to use 2 compounds. I thought they would have gone long with the first one though so it would only be 1 stop. 130
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 21/03/2025The rear doors are from the standard Falcon models. From memory the LTD, Fairlane, and wagon were on a longer wheelbase. Lower volume cars not worth lengthening the doors for presumably. 030
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 20/03/2025Yep it's bizarre. I wonder if it's people thinking more about their personal circumstances rather than the economy as a whole, and how current policy settings might affect the future. 030
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 01/03/2025I don't disagree with the sentiment, but in practice it flows ok. If extra money was to be spent moving the drainage it may well have been accused of being "gold plated" and not happened at all. Beats riding on the road. 230
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 25/02/2025Progress on the Unitec site urban development. Looking good for walking and cycling provision. 000
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 21/02/2025The cynic in me noted him touching on urbanist (/s) ideas such as, expanding the city at the periphery, and improving transport through ... roads of national significance. I'm also doubtful of seeing meaningful improvements. 000
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 19/02/20252/2 These street view images from 2021 show how cars got parked on the grass, damaging the surface and reducing access to the waterfront. The extent of the road into the park has also been reduced to give over more space to people. 000
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 19/02/2025This clip shows a ride through Kulim Park in Tauranga. 1/2 Some recent improvements include removing car parking from the harbour frontage, and extending a shared path through the park. It’s more people friendly now, and very popular. #cycling #placemaking #urbanism 110
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 13/02/2025Over the summer I have revisited some of the cycle paths in Tauranga. This one is the Waikareao Estuary, with the video showing some snippets from a ride around the western side. There are lots of connections into the surrounding suburbs, and the path is well used. 040

Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 22/12/2024Checked out the Point Chev to Westmere cycling improvements, as is the current must do activity. A much more relaxing ride along Meola Rd with the path being separated from vehicles. 010
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Agreed. It will severely compromise the south island rail network without an efficient cook strait crossing. 010
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 11/12/2024They "will be" procuring them through the new company. So they are just beginning the process it sounds like - after a year. Being rail enabled seems to rely on Winstons influence at this point. 110
Grant Morley @grantmorley.bsky.social · 10/12/2024Hopefully he was able to influence the ferries being rail enabled. We find out tomorrow presumably. 020
