Seem relevant! "It mattered little that they were misperceptions or distortions of convenience, as long as people accepted them and gained a sense of order and means of justification for the cruelties to which they had grown accustomed, inequalities that they took to be the laws of nature."
Extract Part Three introduction to the Eight Pillars of Caste.

From Isabel Wilkerson's book "Caste, the Origins of our discontents"

THE FOUNDATIONS OF CASTE

The Origins of Our Discontents

These are the historic origins, the pillars upholding a belief system, the piers beneath the surface of a caste hierarchy .

As these tenets took root in the firmament, ***it did not matter so much whether the assumptions were true, as most were not. It mattered little that they were misperceptions or distortions of convenience, as long as people accepted them and gained a sense of order and means of justification for the cruelties to which they had grown accustomed***, inequalities that they took to be the laws of nature.

These are the pillars of caste, the ancient principles that I researched and compiled as I examined the parallels, over-lap, and commonalities of three major caste hierarchies. These are the principles upon which a caste system is constructed, whether in America, India, or Nazi Germany, beliefs that were at one time or another burrowed deep within the culture and collective subconscious of most every inhabitant, in order for a caste system to function.Front Cover of Isabel Wilkerson's book "Caste, the Origins of our discontents" by Penguin.

IANAL but my understanding was that "gender critical" beliefs, in the context of having protection under EA2010, are quite tightly defined. The way that most GCs then apply their so-called "beliefs" more broadly to vilifying trans people is, as far as I'm aware, *not* protected. So... yes.

Make no mistake, what the "gender critical" movement wanted was to force Féile Belfast into compliance through lawfare. That is their modus operandi when it comes to dealing with any org that shows a scintilla of support for trans people. They lost this time, and they're struggling to cope with it.
Tweet by Heather Binning, founding member of the so-called "Women's Rights Network."

I am disappointed but not surprised that the men of the Feile team took to social media to gloat and crow about their intransigence. There was no win for them and representing it that way is disingenuous.

WRN wished for Feile to WANT to reinstate our panel discussion rather than be FORCED to.

However despite cancelling our event, Feile provided us with a platform far bigger than merely west Belfast to get our message heard across Northern Ireland and further afield. Conversations about whether women have the right to speak openly and honestly, about whether a publicly funded organisation - regardless of its origins - should ensure it represents ALL lawful viewpoints and experiences, and demonstrate for the world to see just exactly who is trying to marginalise who here.

Who knew women were such a threat!

Respect, rights and reality - I’ll buy you a dictionary.

The Sex Matters event has been dropped by Féile an Phobail www.facebook.com/story.php?st...
Statement from Féile an Phobail

An event application was submitted to this years Féile programme by a group called the Women’s Rights Network.

Féile an Phobail was unaware from the initial submission that this event would promote campaigns against rights for the Transgender community.

Féile an Phobail takes pride in standing up for those who are marginalised and attacked.

Féile was formed in 1988 at a time when the community of West Belfast was being attacked and demonised, and as a positive response to that demonisation.

In recent years Féile has organised discussion events with the Transgender community, providing a platform to raise issues of pressing concern, and we fully support the right of the Transgender community to be treated with equality and respect.

On that basis, Féile an Phobail has informed the organiser of this event that we are withdrawing their event.

This event is no longer part of the Féile programme.

From Russia to the far right: the shadowy forces challenging the NHS puberty blockers trial
By Alice McCool
CitizenGO is backed by Russian oligarchs and linked to the far right. Good Law Project's undercover investigation shows that it's ramping up its work in the UK.When the anti-trans campaigner Keira Bell announced legal action against the NHS's clinical trial of puberty blockers, she said the trial's parameters must be
"out in the open". But she didn't mention her legal moves are funded by a pressure group backed by Russian oligarchs and linked to the far right.
The case, which Bell is putting together alongside James Esses and the
controversial Bayswater Support Group is backed by CitizenGO - a lobby group which campaigns against abortion and
LGBTQ+ rights around the world, and is closely tied to the Kremlin and the Spanish far-right party Vox.
