“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” Dalai Lama Kindness doesn’t need an audience. It’s still magic, even when no one sees it. 🧡 #kindness #positivity Picture by Moonbeams and Mayhem
A vintage-style design with the phrase “KINDNESS IS MAGIC” in large cream lettering. A small red heart sits between the words, surrounded by cheerful floral illustrations in soft reds, oranges, pinks, yellows and greens. The background is an earthy green-grey, giving the image a warm, retro feel. Credit: Moonbeams and Mayhem.

One Christmas my Auntie Alice decided to cook a Christmas Pud in her microwave. She set the timer and retired to the lounge to watch a war film on the TV. Explosions galore in the film. Went into the kitchen to find it full of smoke. She could see the pud through a 6” bullet hole in the side of MW.

UK energy bills highest in Europe. Fuelling poverty, business costs and bankruptcies. Ofgem pricing formula guarantees profits to all producers. Formula linked to gas price, the most expensive input. So, industry made£483bn profit since 2020. Need price controls, public ownership.

The emphasis is on how we can help people pay these obscene prices and never on curbing the profits of the despicable businesses. This applies to all privatised utilities. Clearly this government and the previous one are happy with this situation and they have no intention to limit profits.

British Gas is Britain’s worst energy supplier for customer service. Customer exploitation is normalized. Regulators/Govt serve corporations, don't protect people. 50% of the Ofgem board must be elected by customers. Let customers vote on exec pay.

When Fines are not Fines. On 6 August 2024, Ofwat announced fines totalling £168m on three water companies – Thames Water £104m; Yorkshire Water £47m; Northumbrian Water, £17m. Not a penny has been paid. Companies with 400 criminal convictions are allowed to negotiate what and when they will pay.

This is the Victorian Shopping Arcade in my hometown, Walsall, West Midlands, England. I remember going there as a child. They had a wonderful, old fashioned, toy shop and I used to window shop there. Nice to see that it has been looked after.

UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting says the NHS will remain 1. publicly funded. 2. free at the point of delivery. Silent on what is happening in-between. NHS becoming a shell, handing contacts to private sector. 30%-40% of money vanishes in profits. Money buys less. Say NO to NHS privatisation.
