My 2025 in film (1/5): A terrible performance for me this year, just desperately short of time to watch films. Last year I screenshotted my first and last watches - this year can fit them all in
A screenshot from the website Letterboxd showing the movie posters for the 53 times I logged watching a movie in 2025. That is too many to list here, but should be available in accessible form at the URL https://letterboxd.com/graememcc/year/2025/

My 2024 in film (1/3): Started out with rewatch of Zhang Yimou's frosty spy movie, ended (literally - credits rolled 5 minutes before midnight!) with @vycevictus.bsky.social favourite: as he puts it, a 3-star movie with 5 stars worth of entertainment.
A screenshot of a portion of my stats page for 2024 on the movie-tracking site Letterboxd. It shows the movie posters for the first, 50th, and last movies I watched in 2024.

They are as follows.

First movie watched: Cliff Walkers (Zhang Yimou, 2021) (rewatch)

50th movie watched: Joint Security Area (Park Chan-Wook, 2000) (rewatch)

Last movie watched: The Beekeeper (David Ayers, 2024)

Finally watched Phantom (2023, Lee Hae-young) after blind-buying the bluray from Korea. Loses a bit of magic once it exits the hotel setting, but still top-notch pulpy fun. Trailer: youtu.be/8E-6lXi8-wk
Still from the 1933-set Korean movie Phantom (2023). In the shot, we see female character Park Cha-kyung (played by Lee Ha-nee) through a cafe window. She smokes a cigarette whilst looking out the window. The poster from the 1932 movie Shanghai Express is reflected in the window.Still from the 1933-set Korean movie Phantom (2023). In the still, a row of soldiers, illuminated by banker's lamps, sit behind a switchboard and listen in to conversations.Still from the 1933-set Korean movie Phantom (2023). In the still, the character Kaito Takahara (played by Park Hae-soo) shelters behind a wall, pistol in his raised, red-gloved hand. He is sweating, his Chief Guard's uniform is dusty, and he has a bandage on his right cheek.Still from the 1933-set Korean movie Phantom (2023). In the shot, we see female character Park Cha-kyung (played by Lee Ha-nee) driving a car, one hand on the steering-wheel, whilst another cradles the head of another character (I'm not revealing who, as that would be a spoiler for the movie). The car's windscreen has a bullet-hole. In the background, the direction they're driving away from, flames and soldiers can be seen.

Apropos of nothing, “The Man Standing Next”, “12:12 The Day”, and “1987: When The Day Comes” are great South Korean movies based on true events (I’ve listed them in historical order). Could also make the case for “Hunt” (between 12:12 and 1987) and Kingmaker (after 1987)

A day late, but had a good run recently.
A screenshot of my last 4 movies logged on Letterboxd, showing the movie posters, and the rating out of 5 I gave each movie below the poster.

In order from most recent:

Land Of Bad (2024, director William Eubank) - I rated it 3.5 stars
Veteran (2015, director Ryoo Seung-Wan) - I rated it 4 stars.
Joint Security Area (2000, director Park Chan-wook) - I rated it 4 stars. This was a rewatch.
Motorway (2012, director Soi Cheang) - I rated it 4 stars.
