The US Supreme Court decided against democracy today. Everybody had better keep an eye on their voter registration. And please follow reported, edited, fact-checked, and corrected news. Yes, mainstream news still works. #scotus

I appreciate the various workaround efforts, but if it’s on X, I’m perfectly content never to see it. Likewise for EVs (VW ID.4 here) and satellite internet.

@dmoren Thanks for your iOS 27 review. It was just the right level of detail - I want to understand what’s what, to make the most of the—not if but when—upgrade. And it helps with the when. Same for Jason’s GG piece. #ios27 #journalism

@glennf Thanks for all the guidance in Take Control of Your Apple Account (a title which I wouldn’t have believed could be a book 10 years ago but here we are). In case you want to note it, the thing blocking me from migrating my purchases & subs from my 2nd account was: I had TestFlight apps […]

When did the Mac Downloads folder start syncing to iCloud with iCloud Drive turned off? I’d like to disable this. So far, the only option seems to use a different folder for downloads. (on Sequoia) #icloud

So, we got zero meaningful reforms of ICE/CBP, which already has enough funding from last year’s bill to run for years. Do I have that right?

Partying at the White House on Saturday night was unacceptable. I’m re-evaluating my relationship with my once-favorite corporation. Not that they’ll notice, but all subscriptions except minimal iCloud canceled. #apple

I have a report from the #portland war zone. I just returned from a meeting of a classical guitar group at a Central Eastside library. Now I'm sitting at an outdoor table at a sandwich shop on Burnside waiting for my order. It's a lovely day. Very few dead bodies to dodge. Mostly skateboards […]

Sorry to see the FEMA head fired. He’s right, eliminating FEMA is a terrible idea. Just canceling “non-disaster” funding will harm Americans and not really save money. Each dollar spent in preparedness saves $6-13 in post-disaster recovery, depending on how it is measured. Well, if there were no […]
