I like the ‘show your process’ thinking. Demanding folks share Google Doc history (w/ track changes) feels draconian to me (I don’t want to be a cop!). In my current theory seminar it's just we show up, read a ‘surprise text’ (20 pages) and discuss for an hour. No devices—think on your feet.

I don't know if I subscribe to the idea of 'official memory'. I just think some voices are louder than others, and many defer to authority when conceptualizing narratives (e.g. what artists are 'important'). We do kind of take a 'multiple perspectives' approach to our archiving though.
