I probably spent a lot more time than I should have on this control. I'm not a fan of the checkmark + colour label pattern, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this better. #UI

I've been taking daily instant photos of our son with my massive Mamiya RZ67. I've done this for the first year of our daughter's life, too, and now it's his turn 🥰 This is when we went to register his birth today! #mamiya #rz67

We named our son Ezra, not after Mr. Pound (or anyone else famous), but now I feel like I should at least be familiar with the work. It's lovely stuff.

We didn’t have the time to go to the hospital, and he was born right there, in our kitchen. Both baby and mum are well. @tingyilai.com was absolutely incredible! Welcome to the world, little guy.

yesterday was my daughter’s first serious birthday party: we booked a softplay venue, invited all her nursery friends (and their parents), got cake, lil sandwiches, balloons, it was a lot of fun, but exhausting, too 😁

Oh Doom Emacs has integrated the amazing gptel, nice! Protip: set `gptel-display-buffer-action` to a non-nil value to prevent Doom from turning the gptel buffer into a popup (why does Henrik like popups so much?!) The Doom module: github.com/doomemacs/d...

I've been working on a new version of the Parts landing page with a playground in it, as a way to get some feedback about the UI before I'm ready to ship the full tool. This work is going slowly, sharing here to keep myself motivated! #Clojure #ClojureScript

#Clojure fam, is it idiomatic to name boolean vars with a question mark suffix? I know this is the case for functions that return yes/no, but how about let bindings for example?

A little update on Parts: the next milestone is to add a playground to the landing page and let people experiment with the UI a bit. Haven’t had that much focus time while we’re in Taiwan, but been trying to do at least a little bit every day!

#Clojure fam, please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I want to test that my database transaction works; in this test I'm redefining my transaction helper to throw an exception. However, the println in the redefined function is never hit. Why is that? 🙇🏻‍♂️

It's a wonderful 25ºC in Taipei, my ideal weather. It is so nice to chill out in the small local park, let my daughter run around and play with other kids (it's amazing how little language barrier there is, at that age), and just take the time to relax.

Lovely comic by Lynda Barry
A four-panel comic. A tall person and a short person are in a museum in front of a painting, showing what looks like a Madonna and Child painting. Panel 1: Tall person: I'm not sure how to look at art. Short person: Whats sposta happen? Panel 2: Tall person: Something big. A revelation. Suddenly you just understand. Panel 3: Tall person: Not sure how to make it happen. Short person: How bout lift me up so I can see better? Panel 4: Tall person has picked short person up in their arms, and they are both looking at the paining. Their pose mirrors the one in the painting.

For testing my app's API, I've been using an org-mode file with restclient source blocks to test different flows. This is one of those things where #Emacs really shines, and I'm only beginning to scratch the surface of what's possible.

I love full-stack #Clojure for sharing code between backend and frontend. Traditional setups need separate entity definitions, but Clojure allows defining entities in a shared .cljc file for both JVM backend and ClojureScript frontend. So nice! ✨

Continuing to iterate on the sidebar UI for Parts, trying the @figma.com style approach today, where the properties editor palette only shows up if a Part or a Relationship are selected. Cleaner, I think! #InternalFamilySystems
