These games can be super fun. If you haven't tried a text-based role-playing game on discord before, it's worth a shot!

Don't be fooled by the "slow down" rhetoric from LLM companies. Slow or fast doesn't matter. Safe matters. And safe is how you use it. I don't care how fast they develop these technologies. What I care is that they aren't used by the US government to spy domestically on its citizens. Which it does.

Also fellow Wardogs players. You don't need to build 4 tall walls. Just build tank traps around your fob so enemies can't drive up too the wall and jump over it from on top.

GorillaOne @gorillatactics.com · 17/09/2026
Dear fellow Wardogs players. Please make smaller fobs. Much smaller. Every match the fob is an enormous and unwieldy beast that leaks enemies like a siv. Just make a small fob with a few recon towers, a bunker, and a drill pump. Or mortars.

GorillaOne @gorillatactics.com · 08/09/2026
Wardogs is neat, and I like what they are doing. It would improve substantially if they modified the smaller hot zone to allow a more strategic approach.

I surveyed 200 players and learned that most OSR games fall into two tiers of lethality - Meatgrinder and Picaresque. Table culture determines lethality more than system or campaign length. valerialoves.com/how-deadly-i...

If they legitimately ran out of money, this could be a way to potentially keep these folks employed. But its hard to have any faith in game companies these days given that firing staff after a successful game release has become standard practice.

They disinvented the VCR. You might think that the reason we don't have VCRs anymore is because VCRs were supplanted by DVDs, PVRs and streaming, but that's not the case. They had it in for the VCR from the very start, and they never stopped trying to kill it. Eventually, they succeeded. 1/
A 1960s family living room in which a mom, dad and two kids are mesmerized by a cabinet-style TV. The image has been altered. The TV has an early 1990s VCR atop it. The TV screen is displaying a cross-sectioned human head with brains and spine on display. A huge fist has materialized in the room, with bloody spiked knuckle-dusters, smashing into the VCR. The oil painting over the sofa has been replaced with a pulp image of a male head, its cranium removed and replaced by a dome. Inside the dome is a red eight-segment VCR clock, displaying 12:00. The background in the painting is a tangle of cassette tape. The whole image's colors have been boosted, giving it an overexposed look.

Turns out that adding style presets is kind of a mess when... my CSS is a mess. HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN!? Nobody warned me. Madness. Well, now Loreframe has a few style presets, but I'm holding off on more until I really clean up the CSS. For my sanity. My favorite preset is Vile Banana.
A style preset with a light theme, charcoal panel header and map backgrounds, and black text with pink text for highlights. A style preset with a dark theme, black panel and map backgrounds, blue text with yellow text for headers and text highlights. A style preset with a dark theme, with teal body text and hot pink buttons/highlight text.

Reading LLM output is exhausting. Even if it's short (never) your reading output it gives you, your reading documentation created by it, your coworkers are spending their last moments on this earth before you put them out of their misery sending you a LLM generated response to your question. Tiring.

While I've had icons for the maps in loreframe.app for a while, they were not exactly the style I was looking for. I really wanted to stick to SVG icons and really make it look like a retro map with symbols and a legend. So I came up with a framework and then threw together a sample. Check it out!
A infographic showing off various shapes which will be used to identify entities on a map. The outer shape (circles, squares, triangles) are used to identify the entity type, while the symbol inside of it defines the subtype. Further attachments (shapes attached to the border or outside of the shape) further define functionality, such as ships with weapons, or science modules.

For GM's, a world-building app needs to not only make it easy and fun to create awesome worlds, but also to prep for running sessions with their friends. I just added tool to Loreframe that lets gm's print out session prep! loreframe.app?utm_source=b...
Image of a retro teletype inspired document with references to multiple characters, solar systems, and locations as well as information for those entities. A detailed dossier on a space ship. A printed page overview of the ttrpg session, including notes and some tables with information. A printout of a solar system map including several planets, a asteroid belt, and a gm note section.

When players are exploring your world lore, why should they get access to it all at once? Give them the access their characters would have to a computer system. But show them the redaction so they know they are missing something, and want to hunt. loreframe.app

Claude Code Desktop's latest update pins your last message (no matter how long) to the top of the viewport. How did the person implementing this not immediately get punched by the nearest UI/UX designer, or anyone who had even tried it once?
An image of the Claude Code Desktop application, mostly blurred out, with a red box taking up approximately half the output view area representing the users last pinned message. Dumb.

I'm posting a lot about LLM agent usability lately, so I want to take a moment to post the caveat: the current slate of commercial LLM's are built on _stolen intellectual property_ and the fact they haven't even gotten a slap on the wrist is a tragedy.
120
GorillaOne @gorillatactics.com · 05/05/2026
One area I find Agent LLM's pretty useful is in rote boilerplate. I know this has been said before. But if I have 30+ accessors + OnRep functions and GetLifetimeProps additions to make, instead of having to write the program myself to add them, the AI will do it pretty quick. SUPER easy to verify.

GorillaOne @gorillatactics.com · 04/05/2026
I'm seeing a slate of well thought and written articles about the dangers of LLM usage for coders, and I'm a bit surprised this wasn't all self evident. 1) Just because you are good at programming doesn't mean you'll be good at managing programmers. This applies to "managing" LLM agents.
100
GorillaOne @gorillatactics.com · 03/05/2026
The hype around LLM Coding Agents is unreal. I've not seen the benefits materialize for skilled workers. When it's a passion project or unskilled (i.e. you don't know the tech stack) it's neat you can stand something up. Something wobbly.

There is nothing wrong with being required to show an id to vote: but if that's the case the government should automatically supply all citizens with a voter card for free when they come of age. Otherwise it's just shifting the cost of policy into the individual, which is bad.

Some work on my rappeller. It lets the user attach themselves to the ship and rappel down into the clouds. Right now you can place it and interact with it, where it will then move your character into the rappelling position.
