Beat Ace Combat 8 today, and that one is definitely a GotY contender. Probably the closest something has come to knocking Denshattack! out of the #1 spot. It might even end up doing that as I think on it more.

Many are calling me the single best pilot in Ace Combat™️8: Wings of Theve.

Nah they put crack in Ace Combat 8 or something it shouldn't be this good

Man, when I think about my top games this year, it's going to be so hard to rank them. Denshattack, Onimusha, Cairn, ReStory, Tokon, 007, Under the Island, and Homura Hime were all ones I really enjoyed. And I still have to finish Dawnwalker, Fire Emblem, Ace Combat 8, and Control Resonant.

I am eagerly (angrily) awaiting my key.

Voting Denshattack here was the easiest choice I've made.

I've never really been interested in these kinds of games, and outside of one(1) multiplayer game with friends on 7, I've never played one of these games. There was something about how 8 has been presented leading up to launch that had me really excited for it. Glad to see it reviewing so well.

It's amazing how one(1) route in Fortune's Weave does the revenge story like 800 times better than The Last of Us Part II could ever dream.

I just leave the game running in the background sometimes to get an infinite loop of its music.

I've always been a little iffy on the gameplay in Remedy's games, going back to Alan Wake. It's disappointing that it doesn't seem like they fully stuck the landing with Resonant's gameplay, especially when this kind of game generally needs more care put into its gameplay.

There may have been a misunderstand here. I was referring to the people who rage out at IGN's content, and other game media outlets more broadly.

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 19/09/2026
I like it when people are obviously fuming, probably over something that doesn't need that level of anger, and then they act like they don't actually care. Brother...............if you didn't care, you wouldn't be upset on Reddit or wherever about what IGN said.

Watching a streamer play Wolverine without the cherry-picked and nicely edited gameplay from previews/reviews, this game really looks unenjoyable.

I'm really excited to dig into this game. Onimusha got my attention first, but when I wrap that up this weekend, I'll be trying to split time between Fire Emblem and Dawnwalker.

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 11/09/2026
Onimusha having really fun characters and a solid story really wasn't on my bingo card for this year. I was definitely expecting it to be a bit of a meathead action game, and I've never been happier to be proven wrong.

This was probably the only game I was somewhat interested in keeping my PS5 for. Kind of glad I sold it, especially if the gameplay is lacking in this. It's weird because the Spider-Man games had such fun gameplay, and maybe some narrative iffiness, so this feels like a complete reverse.

Seeing people get upset that the Nintendo Direct had too many third-party games is wild. Did we already forget that the Wii U failed because of horrible third-party support.

I feel the same about most things in games now. I don't get as hyped as I used to, but I also find that it improves my enjoyment of games. It's almost like everything exceeds my expectations when I'm not actively excited for it.

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 04/09/2026
This is one of the things I'm going to have to get over. I tend to try to engage with as much side content as possible in a game, but this kind of thing is going to force me to make choices I don't normally make. I'll have to unlearn a loooot of my gaming habits to make it work for Dawnwalker.

Capcom had some REAL stinker years for a while there before RE7. Definitely glad they've been able to rebound successfully. They've been on an absolute tear this year in particular.

I'm only a little bit into Orbitals, but it's insane how much more likeable Maki and Omura are than Mio and Zoe from Split Fiction lmfao it's like night and day

As someone who can't stop buying idle games, these kinds of things really do just scratch my monkey brain itch in ways I'm not proud of in the slightest.

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 03/09/2026
I wasn't shocked it was bad, but I was shocked at how bad it was on every possible level lmfao I've never played anything quite so horrendous in my life.

Outside of the obvious embarrassment considering this guy begged for positive reviews on his game on top of being a general dickhead, I don't get why this needs to exist. If you want non-critic opinions, Steam, OpenCritic, and Metacritic have this kind of information readily available.

Biggest reason why I never fully got into Breath of the Wild as much as I would have liked.

The one that gets mobs on me is RDR2. Arthur is generic the whole way through. The plot is just strung along by "TRUST THE PLAN" for *centuries* and doesn't evolve in a meaningful way. The plot completely nosedives in quality in chapter 5. The world is pretty but empty. The gameplay is only fine.

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 08/08/2026
Damn, this sucks. I REALLY liked Victory Heat Rally, too. Had no idea that he was such a dickhead.

bro it's my SECOND Tokon game and it's a casual match why 😭 this is not very Fighting Souls of you

Gordon @gordon.jagreview.com · 05/08/2026
I think the lack of stamina is the biggest thing. Stamina management is arguably the core gameplay mechanic in a soulslike because of how important it is in nearly every aspect of what you do. Without it, it definitely feels more like an action game with RPG elements.

I didn't think it was outstanding, but it's WAY overhated, and usually for reasons it shouldn't be criticized. Hope you have fun, and if you can get your hands on the Woman of Tomorrow story it's adapting, you should. That story rules.

There's still a lot of 2026 left, but I really feel like Denshattack is going to end up being my game of the year.

In all of the discourse surrounding Mixtape, the only thing I've learned is that no one has a CLUE what an industry plant actually is or what those two words mean together.

Is this...is this even a brag?? If I'm going to brag about something in video games, I'm probably not flexing my Star Fox story muscle there.

Is Motorslice the first game that lets me take a selfie at the exact moment I'm crushed by a colossal dump truck

That might not be true. There's a non-zero chance that if you cut your arm off and slapped that bad boy on, it could function, and I'd do that for $430.

Always weird how seriously some people take reviews, especially JUST a score. People just use them as validation for their own positive/negative feelings, so when a review clashes with those, people crash out. It's fine to like it. It's fine to hate. It's fine to be lukewarm on it. Just be normal.

Played it a bit so far. Lot of fun at this point. Looks fun and has the Monster Hunter charm to it. I feel like all of the systems are going to crack my little peanut brain in two though lmao

Grace is already a relatable protagonist because her boss is sending her to a place of great trauma woefully underprepared to do anything there and she might get her head ripped off by a giant monstrosity and that's the kind of job story that people just Get
