it's 2026. social media is dead. I'm booting into dos on a beige box surrounded by crying children with broken phones. I light a cigarette and pull a small grey ball from behind my eyepatch before carefully inserting it into the belly of a 1990s mouse. kids. today you're gonna learn about webrings

The cactus plant in the front garden blooped out a second flower of the summer, but this one we didn't miss! The flowers only bloom for one evening before dying back. The delicate feather-like fringe of the petals are incredibly beautiful (see 2nd photo). #cactus #flower #macro #brisbane

A moderately wet summer in Brisbane has meant a second flush of orange jasmine flowers, which the bees were loving this morning. There were dozens of foragers on a single, albeit large, bush. #bees #wildlife #macro #brisbane

Possibly Calliophis intestinalis (Banded Malaysian Coral snake) being gently relocated away from the path at the end of a long stick on my walk in Munduk, Bali, this morning.

I'm currently in Munduk, on the island of Bali. While walking today I found this lovely little snek. It was on the footpath in the forest, so I gently relocated it (with a long stick) away from where it could be trodden on. Subsequent research suggests it could be Calliophis intestinalis.

I've been working my way through this since Friday and it is truly excellent. If you want to gain a (much) deeper understanding of CSS with Andy Bell, you owe it to yourself to check it out. And he'll even give you pointers on being a better human too.

Just a quick throwback to this little project we made at Baryon last year: you can go to baryon.be/stories/population, type in any country you like, and see a population density ridgeline plot for it! #dataviz #maps
Population density ridgeline plot for the country of France, showing a huge spike around the Paris region, and minor spikes around other notable cities, such as Lyon and Marseille. The total population density is mentioned at the bottom: 122.15 people per square kilometer, next to a flag of France.

It’s really disheartening to see trans users having to step back from Bluesky because of the influx of transphobic harassment. Trans posters built the culture of this platform and it would behoove cis allies to advocate for their safety as Bluesky expands and they get targeted

I like the little round double-J thingy, it's got something going on for me. Perhaps the new electric models might look like the classic E-Type, and no one will worry too much about the logo!
A 1964 Jaguar E-Type series 1 coupé in a photo from Wikipedia. The car is considered a classic, timeless design and here is shown in light blue against a windowed wall, where contrasting yellow accents in the windows make for a quite striking photo.

Interesting and bold change of direction for Jaguar cars rebranding as an electric-only marque in '26. On some level it's reminiscent of Peter Saville's work for Aston Martin to me. I think the smaller version will look sexy AF shrunk down on the socials. www.creativeboom.com/news/jaguar-...
New Jaguar cars logotype design. Held in white-gloved hands, the logo is circular, with gold bordering leading into two J letters which are also gold.

Lisa Grossman, based in Kansas, paints these incredible landscapes.
A painting showing a green prairie scene, out to a distant horizon and under a grey, cloudy sky. There is a small bluff on the left side but the general feeling imbued by the piece is one of splendid isolation in the landscape. The sun appears close to the horizon under a low bank of cloud. Above the cloud opens up the rest of the sky, which catches the light of the sun and scatters it, leading to an opalescent cloudscape which blends to an aqua-green sky above.
