Call me basic, but I enjoy the J'Adore line, and today my #SOTD is J'adore D'eau. This alcohol-free flanker has milky white juice and smells like a rich lady's shampoo or body lotion. It's green balanced with florals. Entirely inoffensive. I love it. #FragranceSky #PerfumeSky

Catching Covid at the end of the summer brought our biking season to a sad & abrupt end. It was a huge bummer. Today we got back out there, biking under the bright blue sky, among the bluebells, on a perfect spring day. It totally filled my cup. 💙🤍💙🤍

Oh my, my sample #SOTD made me queasy unfortunately. I wanted to love this. I SHOULD love this, but I don't. It is beautiful. Very solar, warm, & summery. Like eating an ice cream cone on a beach. Reminds me of something I had from BBW in the early aughts, name escapes me. #PerfumeSky #FragranceSky

My #SOTD fits so well on this chilly, gloomy spring day. There is a version of me who would've hated this at one point, but I'm finding it so enjoyable today. All notes listed I've detected at one point. If you enjoy a powdery scent, this slept on PdM is worth a try. Sophistication in a bottle.
A bottle of Athalia from Parfums de Marly. The main accords are powdery, iris, musky, white floral, amber, violet, earthy, animalic, citrus, and sweet. The top notes are orange blossom, middle note is iris, and base notes are white musk and amber.

Trying out this newer release from Guerlain for my #SOTD. It's a more mature rose that's fresh & ozonic for summertime. It's giving rose stems and leaves, some mint, and mosses. I like it, but don't love it.
A bottle of Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Rosa Verde. The main accords are green, aquatic, ozonic, rose, citrus, fresh spicy, aromatic, powdery, floral, and violet.Top notes are cucumber, bergamot, mint. The middle notes are rose, pear, and violet. The base notes of chypre notes, musk, and iris.

MORE LILAC for my #SOTD. Took a gamble on a partial bottle of Nosferatu, and I'm glad I did! It's a lovely petrichor lilac scent with a touch of fresh oud. It stays close to the skin and smells very fresh. Perfect for spring! Definitely feels haunted in a good way. #PerfumeSky #FragranceSky

My #SOTD has me baffled. It smells like a tobacco bomb, and that's not even a note that's listed! It's giving cinnamon tobacco sweetness. Very strange. I like it, but was hoping for something cool with the lilac note and didn't really get it. #PerfumeSky #FragranceSky

Today's #SOTD is part of a rabbit hole I've fallen into involving lilac scents. There are just two notes: lilac & petrichor. It's heavy on the fresh, aquatic florals. It's stemmy & green. But something about it leans a bit dill pickle-y on me, which I am not enjoying. #fragrancesky #perfumesky

To say I value @edyong209.bsky.social ‘s writing would be an understatement. I’ve been thinking a lot about hope as a discipline and this sums it up so well. (See next in thread for gift link—the whole article is worth a read.)
So, putting work aside, one could reasonably feel a sense of moral injury just as a result of living in the world right now. We can change our work situation, or at least try, but changing the bigger problems is beyond our scope. Any advice for how to get through that feeling? A nice softball question! There are three ideas that come to mind. One is a quote from the amazing Mariame Kaba, who says, "Hope is a discipline." She argues that hope is not this nebulous, airy thing. It is a practice that you cultivate through active effort. I think of a line by the great and late global-health advocate Paul Farmer, who said that he "fought the long defeat." By which he meant that he was often swimming against forces that were extremely powerful, and he knew that he was going to suffer defeats and setbacks, and that he was going to fight nonetheless. Then the third one is an idea called the Stockdale paradox, which was named after Vice Adm. James Stockdale, who was a prisoner of war. When he was finally released, after a long time in captivity, he was asked how he managed to survive what he endured, and he talked about how he made it because he was able to hold two seemingly contradictory ideas in his head at the same time.
One was the full and brutal realization of his situation, combined with the indomitable hope that things could get better. These three ideas anchor me in these moments when it feels like the gulf between what we hope the world should be and what it actually is seems vast and growing. That gulf is agonizingly difficult to bear, but we bear it nonetheless.

News cycle has me feeling constantly panicky. Needed something bright & cheery for my #sotd. Enter: Milky Dragon, one of my favorite tea scents. The notes are a bunch of molecules + things like butter, cashmeran, cedar, & bergamot. Its subtly fruity and it's hard to explain but it works so well.

My #SOTD is a bit of a social media hypemonster. I cannot resist trying a new tea scent, so I got a decant. It's nice–it's probably great if you're new to tea scents. But I think it's not altogether very unique. I'm happy with my decant, I wouldn't need a full bottle. #perfume #perfumesky #fragrance

Husband and I fit tested the Zimi today and both passed. The only adjustment we made was to add nose foam along the top. I wear size small, he wears a large (but he doesn’t love the fit—it isn’t quite big enough). I really like it personally!

I read a lot of fragrance reviews and I think a lot about how Covid impacts the reviews people are leaving. This person actually admitted it. The FAFO era is just sad. There’s no world where I wanted anyone to actually FO.
A perfume review says:
I've had Covid so many times now im beginning to think my sense of smell has been permenantly affected. So if you're interested in this scent, definitely test it for yourself as there are many popular "strong" scents that I can barely smell.
This smells nice but unfortunately for me this is another scent I can barely smell, so for me l won't purchase a full bottle. I'll need to revisit this in a few months to see if this is still the
case.

Wise words from Lisa Olivera.
Not everyone is going to like or understand your choices, your changes, you. This was once impossibly painful; notice the ways the pain of it is lessening. Notice the ways the pain of not being your true self hurts more than being misunderstood. Notice the ways you’ve been practicing letting misunderstanding take the place of performance. Find some celebration in that, even as it is bittersweet. There is medicine in slowly remembering how to be your truest self.
