“Uefa’s associations were very clear about the conditions attached to their non participation in Fifa competitions. First, the proposals to sell off the major competitions had to be withdrawn and secondly, assurances have to be made that such attempts to disfigure the game in this way will never be made again.

“These conditions have not been met. In addition, Uefa made it abundantly clear in its statement on Saturday that it has lost confidence in Gianni Infantino’s presidency. That position holds. Yesterday’s announcement that some people employed by the Fifa president (and whose careers depend on his favour) agree with him changes nothing.”

Nolan’s Odyssey lacks many of the elements that make the poem great. It has nothing convincing to say about time, memory, history, war, or about the relationship between one warrior’s glorious return and the lives of his family, adversaries, comrades, friends and neighbours. It lacks psychological, emotional, political and ethical depth. Its narrative structure is gimmicky. The writing is abysmal. None of the characters has convincing motivation for their actions or words. There are no sex scenes, and all the food looks horrible.

I feel like self-publishing might make sense going forwards to be fair, but it seems like it would have been too late for the current CEO to do anything about the Elden Ring Bandai deal anyway kotaku.com/activist-inv...

Then again, FromSoftware’s next title, The Duskbloods, is fully owned by FromSoftware, including publishing rights. This might indicate that Natsuno is starting to move in a self-publishing direction anyway. It takes time to develop a game, after all. Elden Ring was first revealed in 2019 with a deal already in place with Bandai Namco, a year before Oasis sent its letter about self-publishing. FromSoftware couldn’t very well have dumped its deal at that stage even if it wanted to. Also, Natsuno wasn’t even CEO until 2021, well after these deals were signed.
