It's a key feature of both games really... You have the ability to control the direction of gravity as it affects you, and then you start falling the appropriate direction. But it's also in the character's traits... Naive, bumbling and meaning well.

Shenmue was so revolutionary in so many respects, though its innovations are only only attributed to a few systems (mostly Quick Time events) but it was firing on so many cylinders, and its realtime clock was one of them
