More reinforcements for my Xirkaali. We're off to war up north in a week or so, its time to crack out the other half of the warrior pack horde. #Xirkaali #kingsofwar #notactuallyacommission #nerdlings

Pithy Reflections from a long in the tooth hobbyist: The only products I know that describe themselves as 'self leveling', are floor screed, concrete, and the citadel pro range of paint. #warhammercommunity

Honestly, doesn't much matter. Something deep red, check out colour forge if you can find them.

Gonders @gonders.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Maybe both? Under paint with red, and cream fur/skin? Then maybe brown/red clothing?

100

Gonders @gonders.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I think if you're going natural tones, make sure you build some red in to there. Living stuff generally has more warm tones than cool.

Gonders @gonders.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

It really depends what look you're after something natural like beastmen? Or something more unnatural and fey ish?

The first half of the Krakens for #dreadball all stars. As mentioned, a comisson for @manticgames. This game is due to ship early 27, I believe, but keep your eyes peeled for updates from my desk. #mantic #kickstarter #dreadballallstars #miniaturepainting #comission

Honestly, there is strength in other companies for me now. I think the biggest thing i miss from how GW 'Used to do it', is actually having everyone on the same page on Thursday night. That's where the memories and friendships were formed, and that doesn't seem to happy any more.

041

Gonders @gonders.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

I think about this stuff too, and i think some of the answer is 'every non GW game exists because someone's priorities don't align with GW any more.' I think part of it is an age thing. I'm in my 40s. I dont believe I'm in GWs target market any more. I'm ok with that, but it took time to realise.

So, Mantic have commissioned me to paint the models from their Dreadball all stars Kickstarter. The campaign is over now, and production is in full swing. Here is the first of the minis, from the Krakens team. Very cartoony, very good fun! #mantic #nerdlings #dreadball
