Lately, I've pivoted to reading scientific literature and not books. I'm sad my book review posts have slowed down because of this. So I'm going to post my to-be-read book list before 2026 instead... #BookSky #ScienceLiterature #NonFiction

Summer 2025✨, I read Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins. Favorite book this year. Have you ever wondered about the third guy on Apollo 11? Did you know there was a third guy? I learned so much about space and organizational leadership from down-to-earth descriptions. So easy to consume ravenously!
The cover of Carrying the Fire: An Astronaut’s Journeys by Michael Collins shows a vivid, cloudless blue sky as the background. At the top, the title is centered in large white uppercase letters: CARRYING THE FIRE. Beneath that, in a smaller yellow or white font, it reads An Astronaut’s Journeys. At the bottom or across part of the image appears the author’s name in a clean, sans-serif style: MICHAEL COLLINS. Some editions include a photograph of Collins in his spacesuit or a background image of a rocket launch, adding a human and aspirational touch.

I read Catherine Bracy's World Eaters in April 2025. Brilliant book that demonstrates how non-randomly entrepreneurial culture forms and affects society at large. Bracy succinctly criticizes major corporations that are household names and fairly reveals their role in "late-stage capitalism".
Title page of Catherine Bracy's World Eaters- Navy blue background with yellow text that reads the title and author, subtitle is "How venture capital is cannibalizing the economy". Pac man symbols with dollar bill George Washington's face are consuming the next smaller pac man symbol.

#BookReview #EmpireOfPain #PatrickRaddenKeefe #PainResearch #BookSky #SeeThread In "Empire of Pain", Patrick Radden Keefe tells the story of the Sackler family. It's a must-read for anyone impacted by the opioid-crisis, studying pain research, or funded by NIH HEAL grants.
"Empire of Pain" Book cover by Patrick Redden Keefe. A single roman-style pedestal is displayed in front of a black background and there's text in shades of yellow displaying the book's title, author, and subtitle "the secret history of the sackler dynasty".
