The audience at Kublai Khan's court is also an outstanding scene. Even before any words are spoken, you can feel just how powerful and intimidating a figure the Khan is, especially to young Marco, who faces him, a person of such huge authority, for the first time in his life.

I'm especially fond of all these oneiric shots with silhouettes on the backdrop of strong lighting

Marco Polo no Bouken #23 Polos arrive at their destination and prepare to meet the Kublai Khan. I love how Kawajiri effectively utilizes perspective with starkly contrasting lights and colors to give a proper sense of scale and grandeur to the climax of the first big story arc.

I really like the backgrounds and color palette in Marco Polo no Bouken #21

In Minstrel's case it's not that vital, but for Tatiana and Herman it can kinda mess up their characterization and stories. I just hope that people at Xeen know what they are doing...

I'm also glad to hear that they actually will add some new scenarios for all the protagonists and Katarina will appear as recruitable character in the other protagonists' stories. I'm not sure though how to feel about the fact that you can freely kick Minstrel, Tatiana or Herman from your party now.

Just checked out the recent RS3R stream, and I love how you can now see just how tiny Fairy is compared to the regular-sized equipment, and she even has custom attack animations to account for this. Flurry the snowman also seems to have some cute and unique animations for action selection.

Romancing SaGa 3 remake in february I'm mostly interested what new recruitable characters they will introduce, but it would be cool if they also tried to make all the protagonists' stories a bit more diverse this time around. It would fix my only real complaint about the OG game

This is also one of the rare episodes where the main antagonist has already heard about Sanshiro and his crazy feats. I really like it because it implies that Sanshiro's actions actually have a bit of an impact on the world, despite the show's episodic nature.

My favorite bit from Kurenai Sanshiro #17. While far from the craziest stunts Sanshiro has pulled off throughout the series, I love how satisfying and clean the entire sequence is. The fact that it is almost entirely done in a single continuous cut makes it even more impressive.

Happy to see the RS2 remake did well enough that they are probably going to make one for RS3 as well. I also wonder if this means that while Xeen works on it, Kawazu's team will give us a new game in the meantime, similar to 2024, when we got both the RS2 remake and Emerald Beyond.

Hikari 2026 loot Very fun convention overall. Didn't buy that much this time around, but I'm super happy that I've been able to attend a screening of Goro Taniguchi's new movie and also get a promotional poster for it. Also managed to get Machico's autograph~

Finally got my copy of Saint Seiya vol.1! Hardcover edition, of course. So glad to finally see Masami Kurumada's manga published in my country! Especially a series that I grew up with and love deeply to this day.

I'm especially surprised that I managed to find 3 doujin books featuring drawings and cuts by people from the anime industry. Keiji Gotoh, Tsutomu Miyazawa, Shouta Ibata, Hiroyuki Sasaki, Kikuko Sadakata, Shouji Saeki and many others. Insane what you can find on Polish cons now.

It was also relatively simple and fun to build, despite some of the usual problems for Koto kits (very noticeable nubmarks, esp on her bust, super tiny sharp pieces etc). The poseability is quite nice as well, though parts tend to pop out quite a lot and you have to work around her huge braid.

Iris assembled! Really pleasantly surprised with the color accuracy. Most of the Kotobukiya kits I've put together in the past required quite a lot of painting, but Iris is almost 100% accurate to the source material right out of the box. All you need to do is touch up her hat and belt a little.

One of the robots I asked for the most in Mechasmile surveys and one of my most beloved robots from my childhood. I literally cried out loud when they announced Equus and then they followed it with MG1974. Well played GSC. I'm waiting for pre-orders to open.

Another interesting thing that can be noticed in this episode is how they apply an actual foil to the drawings to create a flashing effect on metallic objects, like the blade of a knife. Not the first time it's used in the show, but worth highlighting nonetheless.

I also really like the camera work in this bit with rotation towards Sanshiro
110
Goge @goge.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
It works especially good in bigger panning shots, where the objects in the foreground make the entire shot much more three dimensional and interesting to watch

Goge @goge.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
A lot of great layouts in this episode too, with some good sense of space, creative framing and good use of objects in the foreground

I also appreciate how the show manages to throw in a bit of experimentation here, as seen in that POV shot panning and tilting around the tower's interior. I think it was created in a similar way to that one scene from Devilman OVA, with Ryo shooting at Sirene.

I applaud Kurenai Sanshiro for constantly coming up with increasingly insane stunts. Sanshiro having a karate fight on a bike while riding around the inner walls of a ruined cathedral tower is definitely one of the craziest and fun things that have happened in the show so far.

I've just learned that Tatsuo Sato has passed away... Nadesico is one of my most favorite anime, and I can't stress enough just how important it is to me and how big a role it played in sparking my interest in anime production. Thank you for everything and please rest in peace

I also applaud how surreal visuals don't detract from telling a story about a martial artist honing his skills. As Sanshiro sits in complete darkness, trying to catch silently falling waterdrops, our field of view is also limited to further showcase how focused he is on the task.

Kurenai Sanshiro is a constantly experimental, visually ambitious show, and this episode is no exception. One of the most notable parts is the scene where Sanshiro walks through a dark corridor, his silhouette being the only window offering us a glimpse of what's inside the tomb.

Kurenai Sanshiro #10 Sanshiro braves the illusory castle of Sandoria, where he faces various traps set by an ancient king. Directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa, it's one of the most surreal & delightfully eerie eps in the series, making fantastic use of silhouettes and limited lighting.

I do believe there is such a thing as good art and bad art. But I also believe there should be a museum of toy packaging and marketing art so I can stand in front of this Masters of the Universe poster by Earl Norem and talk about its composition like it's The School of Athens

I also love how he throws in another reference to Wing's second OP, this time to the title card, before the screen fades to black. Oh, and I think this is also the first time that TBR in SRW referenced this exact shot from Endless Waltz so closely.

Goge @goge.bsky.social · 05/04/2026
His take on TBR Max Output is also quite flashy. Most notable is how he frames the three blasts differently. The first one is the usual shot we get in all SRWs, the 2nd is from a far distance, signaled by a flare, and the final one gets highlighted by a cut-in with a zoom out.

Goge @goge.bsky.social · 05/04/2026
Arios Guy's take on Wing Gundam Zero may be my favorite version of this unit in the SRW series. I especially love how he gives the usually basic "fire the big gun" TBR animation an entire choreography with cool acrobatics, smoke effects, and cut-ins referencing Gundam W's 2nd OP.

Sanshiro wasn't the only show from that time that dabbed into experimental gekimation and use of photography, of course (Nekome Kozou is another good example), but it is definitely the most memorable and visually striking of them, due to how seamlessly it combines all its techniques.

Goge @goge.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
Tatsunoko is well known for being one of the most ambitious and experimental anime studios since its very conception, and Sanshiro is perhaps the best example of that. An already exciting adventure/revenge story turned into something akin to a astonishing work of art, very much ahead of its time

I've just started watching Kurenai Sanshiro, and I'm already a big fan of how spectacularly it blends traditional animation, gekimation, and live-action techniques to create one of the most unique looking anime I've seen. I especially appreciate how good it is at depicting three-dimensional depth.

I've built quite a lot of plamo this year, huh
041
Goge @goge.bsky.social · 22/12/2025
PLAMAX is also absolutely huge and based more closely on Obari's drawings from the OP he solo animated, which makes it much cooler in my book. 4/4

And while the shield requires waterslide decals or paniting for 100% color accuracy it more than makes up for it by being a sturdy, much more poseable construction rather than a hollow plastic piece, which also allows you to store the knifes inside of it. 3/4

Goge @goge.bsky.social · 22/12/2025
The overall build is also more detailed than the HG. The head for example, consists of many more components. I especially love the translucent part for the eyes, which you slot under the black masking part, which really makes them pop out compared to a basic sticker in HG, esp. with some paint job.
110
Goge @goge.bsky.social · 22/12/2025
I haven't built the HG so I can only compare them based on some reviews I've seen. PLAMAX lacks the inner frame and as mentioned the wings aren't foldable and rely on partsforming, but it is much, much more detailed, sturdy and poseable thanks to the ratchet joints and the included base. 1/4

Hattori Kenji comes back as the animation director for this episode, and tbh, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite ADs in Srungle. I especially like the noticeable upgrade in the hair volume, as well as some nice details on close-ups.
