Holy fuck! This's the mall I always dropped by when I had to go on a trip every month for 2 years to the area the earthquake hit yesterday. Get people the power back before it hits 38C/100F later this week. As if it's not enough, a massive typhoon is on the way around there. youtu.be/AR1c661WDUY?...

potato starch (or cornstarch) mixture and stir the whole thing until soup gets a little thickened. Get a bowl of rice, put the omelette on it and pour soup and make what's called Tenshin-han. It's one of my favourites. 😊 youtu.be/N2wsjY2t3vM?...

Add some chopped green onions to the egg mixture and make an omelette. Make soup with 10oz water, 1tsp dashi powder, 2tsp oyster sauce, 4tsp soy sauce, 2tsp sugar, 2tsp grated ginger, 1/2 tsp sesame oil (if you have it) and heat it till boiled. Turn the heat off and add 6tsp water and 6tsp

Argentine crowd interrupting England anthem by chanting, England crowd booing during Argentine anthem, Bellingham slapping Barco in the head after the match, Argentina bringing politics into the pitch... Both countries may be considered as strong, yet there's nothing they can be proud of as a human.

The Argentine crowd definitely are making it feel as if the match was being held in Argentina, not somewhere 5600 miles away from their home.

Not to mention England first goal should've been disallowed. The ball was already dead when it hit the cable before the goal. The refs totally ignored the rules when it worked against England, then suddenly changed their mind and took them very seriously when they realised it'd work against Norway.

Norway, I'm sorry you were robbed. Yeah Haaland pushed but it had nothing to do with where the ball was going, let alone the game. If Haaland had deserved a foul, then there should've been another 100 fouls in that match. Your enemy was FIFA after all. The scenario had been set up before the match.

Watching the World Cup, it's getting hard not to root for Norway. They really stand out on the field as well as in the stands and I'm pretty much in love with the way the crowd root for their nation. Beat the hell out of England tonight! Go Haaland!!! youtu.be/xnhSDvzs3ss?...

OK since people are posting a film they like that a lot of people hate, I'll go the opposite. A film I hate that a lot of people love is The Castle of Cagliostro. I hate it with passion, sorry.

21 years ago today, I was told I had breast cancer along with a few affected lymph nodes, which felt like nothing but a death sentence. Now 21 years have passed. Still alive and kicking. If anyone's struggling right now, hang in there and take a baby step at a time. It can pass. I'm a living proof.

When I heard this song about 30 years ago, I wasn't as good at English as I may be now. It took half a decade to realise it was "What’s sleepin’ in our soul", not "What’s sleepin’ in 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞". 😂 youtube.com/shorts/MDskG...

I knew the orange piece of shit and ICE were both totally rotten but this seems to be a different story to me because this means 12 jurors who were chosen by complete random selection all found him guilty. Your country indeed is corrupted.

What matters the most is where your heart is. Yeah there are much less people who'd say the first three words as a slur than there were back in the day, yet the discrimination against us Asian people is rather growing, especially in US.
110
chiK @goedriven.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
Luckily the vast majority of people under 40, if not everyone, don't even know that it's meant to be a slur so it's getting less and less offensive now, at least here. In fact, there are far more natives use the first three letters to represent our country than those use JPN.

Someone must logically explain the absolute need for silent letters in English words??? Having an Aussie as my bestie, I thought I was more familiar to the Brit pronunciations than American but I was wrong. I never knew they totally ignore the k sound in "schedule" and say it like she-jool. 😶

Thanks to those replied. I forgot to mention that they would be spending some time in Osaka & Kyoto after Tokyo. And telling someone from Osaka, known as the best okonomiyaki city in Japan, that monjayaki is good is a bold move, I'd say. It's like telling New Yorkers to eat Chicago style pizza. 😂

I can only compare people who enjoy drinking to cig smokers as no weed is legal here, coke, pot whatsoever. Even medical cannabis is VERY strictly regulated, doctors can use it to treat their patients but can't issue pharmacy prescriptions. After all, assholes are assholes no matter what they like.

From what I googled, eating dumplings on the full moon isn't as common as it is in other areas. Instead, they'd make offerings of crops like corn etc to celebrate harvest and show gratitude to nature.

all stacked between the buns and some businesses emulate them by making it look like fried eggs are popular in that season.

We are the only ones who can eat them with Anko and I'm pretty happy about it. 🥰 As for fried eggs, they have nothing to do with the moon viewing season. It's just that Maccas offer a seasonal menu called Tsukimi burger that comes with a beef patty, fried egg, bacon, cheese and creamy sauce

but in Osaka and the surrounding areas like Kyoto or Nara. In Tokyo, dumplings aren't covered with Anko (sweet red bean paste). Just a bunch of small balls put on a specific type of a wooden tray. In the western side of Honshu and the entire Kyushu, dumplings are skewered on a bamboo stick.

chiK @goedriven.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Those dumplings on the plate are called Tsukimi-dango (moon viewing dumplings) and while it's pretty much a tradition we eat those dumplings on the fifteenth night of the eighth lunar month, they look all different depending on where you live. You wouldn't see the ones in this photo anywhere

FYI, poo is spelt 大便 and pee is spelt 小便 (rather formal I'd say though, not the words used between familiar faces). You'll find it fanny that 大 means big whereas 小 means small. 便 stands for news, thus poo is big news and pee is small news. 😂

This stunning film is not to be understood but to be felt. I find it very beautiful that every single person who's watched this watched the exact same version because it didn't need to be subbed/dubbed. There's no mistranslations, exaggerations whatsoever.

If you’re a writer, write “I waited” without saying it. I just stood there thinking where it all went wrong, letting the pitch black darkness soak into every fiber of my being. Then I became a shadow. I didn't even exist until the dawn found me alone and miserable again.

Your next homework is to learn this 狸, which reads tanuki. As you might've learnt already, a majority of kanji's consist of two components/radicals. The left side of 狸 indicates animals and the right indicates a home in the countryside. Thus 狸 represents an animal often seen in the countryside.
