Echo and the Bunnymen (such an apt band name for that film!) weren't so happy when Kelly got his way www.theguardian.com/music/2015/a...
"I still love The Killing Moon. The lyrics are mysterious and it’s open to interpretation. It’s got a timeless quality. Years after it was a hit, we got an email saying this bloke wanted to use the song in a film, Donnie Darko, which we didn’t think would go anywhere, so accepted a one-off £3,000. Then when the director did the director’s cut he replaced The Killing Moon with Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. Aren’t some people knobheads?"

Buffy eps where Anthony Head shines are ten a penny, but School Hard and A New Man stand out as particularly good. Or watch him terrorise Sarah Jane Smith in Dr Whoʼs School Reunion. Heʼs one of the few reasons to watch Merlin. Or just read this incredibly daft Timothy Thornton 'poem' in tribute.
Footnote: Not every head is Anthony Head's head. While it is true that Anthony Head's head is Anthony Head's head and therefore it is without a doubt an Anthony-Head's-head, supposing the possibility of other Anthony-Head's-heads which somehow...

And it goes on like that. For ages.

I've got this gathering dust in a desk drawer if it's the right kind? 50p for scale
This isn't really a public message but if you need alt text it's a grey Philips 390 Pocket Memo dictaphone, the sort of thing you imagine Michael Douglas would smarmily talk into in the opening scene of an 80s thriller. I think this might be the most boring book cover on my shelves. Even if you want to stick to the format of “one photograph” for some Penguin Modern Classics house style, there are better options even among James Bond stills.
From Russia With Love by Ian Fleming - the title is set at the bottom of the cover in something like Garamon on a silver background. A white strip above indicates it is in the Penguin Modern Classics range.

The other 80% of the cover is one black-and-white photograph of Sean Connery in a suit looking bored and holding a pistol with a long barrel to frame his face.

Hard To Be A God. Russian, b&w, based on a classic SF novel, took so long to make (13 years) that the director died. Itʼs uncompromisingly long and grotesque, with a vibe best described as muddy medievalism. It might be a masterpiece or I might have Stockholm syndrome.

Nothing special but occasionally you get a gonzo moment like Bond really loving Disneyland (Never Send Flowers, 1993)
James Bond: "I thought the whole thing would be tasteless, tawdry and a bit phony. In the end we stayed for a week. The great thing about Disneyland is that it works. The moment they walk through those gates and find themselves in the Town Square and Main Street, the visitors know that they're going to have one hell of a good time. The rides are a knockout, and it does become wonderful."

I enjoyed this line from the BBC earlier with absolutely no self-awareness. Great symbolic weight, you say?
"In North Korea, where photos published by the state media are believed to carry great symbolic weight, it is rare for individuals other than Kim Jong Un to be positioned equally prominently in the frame."Back to 2025 and King Charles and Queen Camilla are arm in arm in their Christmas card - a show of unity in what's been a busy year.

The picture is a mix of the friendly and the formal, taken on the first day of the state visit to Italy, when the couple were celebrating their
20th wedding anniversary.

The Queen is wearing a lily of the valley brooch, a symbol of enduring love.

That trip was in April, which accounts for the
spring backdrop for this Christmas card. The
setting is Villa Wolkonsky in Rome, the elegant
residence of the UK's ambassador to Italy."

Spent a while wondering which Tom Cruise film this might actually be, as thereʼs no swamps in Mission: Impossible… only to realise Instagram was feeding me AI slop. Big clue in the first frame!
An Instagram post from @gorbachev_alexandr, purporting to show a video of Tom Cruise. Over the video it says "Tom Cruise grabbed a 60lb camera and jumped into the swamp because the crew was 'too scared' to film it." A caption to the post suggests this happened while filming the "new" Mission: ImpossibleA crop of the video shows an artificial imitation of Tom Cruise looking like it's standing in front of a film crew, while at the edge of the frame is a clapperboard with the Star Wars logo

Not much in the way of surprise or development beyond set-up in Endeavour #1, even with the double length of a DSTLRY comic. (A Yellowjackets-style glimpse of whatʼs to come wouldʼve hooked me.) But rich kids left on a recreated 18th century ship is a good starting point, and characters are decent
