Dalamud has some basic sandboxing for power users now! I really just built this for myself so it doesn't have any bells and whistles, but we might pick it up in the future and try to figure out the UX problems that make it difficult to use github.com/goatcorp/Dal...

I really didn't expect the immediate impact of AI on me to be "every single person on the planet with a PC and a shitty idea can now make it within half an hour" instead of "flood of bullshit PRs that I have to sift through" as everyone told me would happen

I'm sick and I keep having this dream where I sit next to Lenny from the Simpsons on a flight, and I go "Not Lenny!!" and then he gets upset because apparently everyone says that when they spot him in public

We posted a small update on account IDs and "character database" plugins: dalamud.dev/news/2026/07... Sadly, it still boils down to "this sucks, we sadly can't do anything about it". Will do my best to answer questions in replies.

An Update on Account IDs | Dalamud

Hello everyone. We’ve received a number of comments and concerns about a custom repository plugin that collects and tracks players via their Character IDs and Account IDs. In the past, we’ve published...

Something that is completely foreign to me but seems to be common for older people like my parents is that tech "breaks". Their original Google TV from 4 years ago became unusable (updates, ads? key presses took 20 seconds to react) and they just said it was "broken" and bought a newer one.

Time for the bimonthly "I closed VS because something broke, and it started auto-updating, and broke even further and now I have to restart my PC and roll back and and have it delete all my extensions and restart it again" maneuver

Happy pride! I'm gay and weird but I usually don't talk about it a lot. I love seeing other people getting to be gay and weird though, which is a little harder than it should be nowadays, so please support your local lgbt associations if you can, they need it!

This place doesn't have polls, but I would love to do an informal poll for plugin devs around churn. Is bumping your plugin once per major patch (4-5 months) too often for you and is it a big concern?

I think it doesn't matter whether or not the app is vibecoded or not at this point, all of the terminally bsky people get so butthurt about the rest of the site insinuating it and immediately go and block and subpost crying about it, there must be some latent insecurity floating around

RIP to my home-soldered SlimeVR trackers (since undergone lithium explosion and money subsequently poured into Kickstarter alternative that may or may not ship)

Shipping programmable background blur for ImGui in Dalamud this week! It's controllable via a slider in the style editor, and has controls for grain noise, tint and luminosity adjustment (though those are not exposed yet, only for other devs)

This was fun! Turns out we weren't the only ones with this idea but I think we did a good job of it (even though it was pretty short notice again, oops)

Today's mood: Katamari Damacy missing cat poster

Pixel-art "missing person" poster. Large hand-written lettering on the top of the picture says "さがしています。" roughly translating to "I'm looking for them." The middle of the poster contains a depiction of a cat, smugly looking into the camera.
Smaller text below can be made out to read たま　三毛ネコ which roughly translates to "Tama, calico cat". Even smaller text below likely reads オス　１才, which roughly translates to "male, 1 year". The rest of the text on the poster is just approximate dots, besides a phone number, which is partly cut off by fraying.
