Steve Ballmer went to Detroit Country Day, in case you’re wondering where he learned that providing basketball players with impermissible payments is totally fine

Given the dismal state of the media covering the NBA, worth noting that @vincegoodwill.bsky.social to @espn.com is a shockingly good hire. I interned for the Pistons in 2003 and he was the go-to writer on the beat. He's smart, good on TV, very deep knowledge of the NBA and Detroit style to boot.

to think, back when I covered the FCC it was considered a boring beat. Brendan Carr was just another ambitious attorney and broadcast license renewals were almost always routine.

bloomberg has a fun article today arguing that the Cybertruck is the biggest flop in automotive history. it includes this glorious graph.

A graph showing how the edsel and Cybertruck both performed based on their sales target and actual year one and year two sales. The edsel was expected to sell 200k units in its first year. It sold slightly over 50k, and less than 50k the next year

The Cybertruck had a sales.target of 250k in its first year. They sold around 40k, the next year they sold about half as many.

Pistons two-way forward Isaac Jones had zero college or JUCO offers after graduating high school. So he got a job working the loading dock at Puget Sound Pipe & Supply. "I always mess around and say I’m the only NBA player who's forklift-certified." www.freep.com/story/sports...

How Isaac Jones went from forklift operator to Pistons G League standout

Before Isaac Jones ever dunked a basketball, he learned how to operate a forklift. Now he's a standout on the Pistons' G League squad.

Watching Scott Bessent flatter Trump and him respond "Is this guy from central casting?" makes me somehow long for those halcyon days of 2007 when I covered a very sweaty Hank Paulson testifying in front of the Senate Commerce Committee.
