I am finding the quality of Trail of Cthulhu 2nd edition to be very high. They made the formal decision to not change core rules and mechanics but have invested all of their efforts to make everything clear, concise and clearly articulated. It’s a genuinely impressive effort.

Very impressed by @pelgranepress.bsky.social 2nd edition uplift of Trail of Cthulhu- the new Sanity Rules actually make the changes needed to seperate actual mental health from the dispair that mythos engenders. Outstanding work

Claire North’s Slow Gods was an outstanding read. A story of Love, Loss and the surprising power of the Observer Effect, it was surprisingly enjoyable.

Finally had a closer look at Free League's scenario collection for #coriolis The Great Dark. Perfectly suitable for the Third Horizon as well, I reckon. Here is the video - youtu.be/We9uTCHP-QQ #ttrpg #pnp

The newly released Le Mort D’Arthur from Chaosium with Greg Stafford’s comments is actually awesome. I’m genuinely impressed by the quality of the product and Greg was an outstanding thinker in this space. I was pretty hesitant as I already own a Beardsley reprint. www.chaosium.com/pendragon-th...

Vibe coded a fully functional character sheet and campaign repository within a week, the latest LLM tools are honestly impressive for this less intensive kind of platform builds. It took about three real days of effort, buts it’s exactly what I wanted in a tool. No content generation just the code

Have been getting into small zine style solo games during my trip around Europe and have really enjoyed Auspex by @smolghost.bsky.social. I picked it up in London and it’s been a pleasure to play, if not my usual fare. Can very much recommend.

Absolutely cracking read - well written and in a style that carries you through the history of the Saxons from the early 400’s through to 1066. I disagree with the decision to not talk more about Aethelflead Queen of Mercia, but fantastic in every other way.

I’ve not played the other one yet, it’s intended to allow for a group of four followers seeking to get their knight to the Witch who can heal them. One additional player takes the role of GM. Once again needs a Tarot deck, looks fun though.

Fascinating little zine games, both by Laurie O’Connel. Both with an Arthurian theme. I’ve started on To Honor and Obey, a solo Tarot driven game of being the lady left to guard the manor when her husband goes off to adventure. Would recommend if you can find it.

If anyone is interested in a cracking read, an outstanding history of the Cathar Crusade - this was excellent, highly approachable history with a very easy reading style. Cannot recommend enough.

Pendragon by Chaosium to showcase an alternative model to alignment and show simple combat Alien to introduce fast running, white knuckled play and to learn to let go of war gaming combat The One Ring to show how Tolkien done right feels Vaesen because roleplaying writes itself in that game

With the Flowers of Algorab now out in Beta answering the where’s the intrigue question beautifully and the physical core rule book showcasing the usual quality and exquisite style of Free League I’ve had great fun running this and I think despite initial doubts it’s an excellent sequel to CtTH

It was awesome, the players ultimately did a deal with the BG to do in the other house. Duels occurred in the imperial capital, spies killed house leaders, Players fell in love with, dueled and then saved BG spies in the other House, everyone needs Mentats it turns out.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
I ran a campaign that never went near Dune, it was focussed on the Mentat drug and control of it. The basic premise of the House while everyone is focussed on Spice, we could corner the market on something important and niche.

It's a testament to Free League's ongoing excellence in making games that capture an aesthetic. In the CTGD, I feel that sense of loneliness, of the desperate search for supplies and a way out of the suffocating conundrum of the entire Lost Horizon. It's actually awesome.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 16/03/2025
We've now been running Coriolis:The Great Dark for a few sessions and it's excellent. As a radical perspective Lore is what made Coriolis The Third Horizon so good. And honestly the lore of the CtGD is just as compelling. The players have not yet left The Great Ship and we've loved it all.

New book recommendation. I've just finished the audio of "The Pursuit of William Abbey" by Claire North, excellently read by Peter Kenny. Much like "1st 15 Lives of Harry August" this is a masterpiece of the weird intersecting with history. uk.bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

The encounters will allow all players to participate. I've overridden the random rolls imposing an order on those rolls. I'm still in effect using the core delve, how far do you get or the ship one encounter a week frame for pacing. It's given me a lot of time to plan. Should be fun.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 03/03/2025
I've pre rolled both the delve encounters and the great ship encounters and turned both into a series of defined narratives. Its a weakness I've seen in TOR 2e as well, the encounters are very barebones, which actually makes riffing off them hard. To be fair FL make this point themselves.

Yep I've set it up and got it ready to run for the EffeKt guys. The foundry implementation handles almost everything, although there are a few minor gaps arising from it being built around the Quick start. We're kicking off this weekend coming. Already impressed.

We are running the Gallery of Souls, one of the free modules from Helmgast. From a setting perspective, it delivers a proper China Town vibe combined with the horror of the unnatural. The characters are not good people, which just makes the whole thing more fun.

I ran Kult: Divinity Lost last night for the first time and I found it excellent. The setting is amazing, and the mechanics do a great job of driving narrative forward. We've found it easy to get into the flow with the assist of the Foundry module which is very comprehensive.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
The background and lore is both compelling and to be honest bleak. As Free League have indicated, this is a game that draws from the survival horror of 19th century exploration and the goes the full kit on the Terror.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
For GMs I think the key message is prep is going to be a thing, it's a sandbox game, but you'll need to put flesh on the bones of the tables provided to make this game compelling. Which it will be when you do that.

Endless GM @gmendlessgames.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
The ruleset is an interesting amalgam of Forbidden Lands and The One Ring. Elements of Coriolis the Third Horizon are maintained but they are pretty small.

Have been going through the Beta for Coriolis the Great Dark. It's bloody amazing, the art and layout are on point, the rules clearly laid out and the setting is evocative. It's a very dark turn, in some ways more of a child of Alien than The Third Horizon.

Thinking of fear as being too powerful was not where I thought I would land, but I think I'm right - characters would be hit by regular fear, at significant strength and then broken by it. Anyhow a revelation, I have realised I can do the Magnus Archives using Vaesen as written, which is nice.
