I bought a dragon squeaky toy for a dog we don't have yet. it's okay, though, because even if the baby we have our eye on finds another home then dragons are universal.

T is at a leadership class (I'm very proud of her) and so it's just me and Lizzy. she's being a tiny menace. she just stole an entire kleenex box and waddled past me with it in her mouth, very pleased with herself.

oh shit, there's a late contender for our hearts and she's a wiry-furred mutt named Chiquita from NJ. she's 15 lbs and she looks like the happiest little creechur. she has very serious eyebrows. if she finds another home then it wasn't meant to be, but T and my BIL and I are pretty taken with her.

there's a chihuahua mix named Felipa that I am mildly in love with because she has ridiculous ears and the same "I had babies and they got adopted but I didn't" sad mama story as Lizzy. there's also Snoopy, a sweet underweight mutt with the most soulful dark eyes ever.

I will admit that I'm happy to take a puppy, because we've got puppy experience and they're adorable fluffballs, but I'd also be happy to get an older dog because they're less likely to be adopted. either way, I'm sure they will be a very good boy or girl.

one rescue declined our application for a certain dog but offered to let us meet some puppies this weekend, depending on how they test with cats. they were taken from a breeder. we get pics on Wednesday. if it's meant to be, then it will be. I'm trying not to set my heart on anybody yet.

Lizzy heard me get up this morning and came running, chirping happily and rubbing against my legs. she's living her best life and loving all the attention. I'm missing the dog. no walking buddy this morning. we have a couple applications in at various rescues, which is keeping me sane.

fuck cancer, for the record, on multiple levels for multiple people I love in addition to the dog. Lizzy is being a little lovebug and climbing on my shoulders, sprawling between me and the keyboard, and demanding affection. she knows something is up, so she's trying to help by being a menace.

(cw: pet death) we're letting Yoda go today. he's still himself and full of affection and energy, but he's stopped eating entirely. we're all pretty wracked with guilt, but I'd rather let him go too early than let him suffer. he's such a good dog. I keep crying on him and he just sighs patiently.

Yoda hates the rain. this morning he got to the front step, saw that it was pouring, went "nope!" and turned around to go back to the apartment. now I'm getting side-eye from a little dog who wants the rain turned off.

Dalton is confused as to why this is an issue, as the elflands is a gender-neutral dystopia where people fight pregnant all the time and nobody so much as blinks. pregnancy is a sign of great strength and deserves respect, and he doesn’t know why the bard is freaked and wants to send the rogue home.

we had Marchen today! the party is approaching the briar wall surrounding the sleeping sickness, which is breaking down and is the whole reason for this quest. there were creepy possessed Amazons who tried to slice open the rogue's belly, which led to the revelation that she's pregnant.

After a little over a month of being forced on a team together, Rowan and her half-elf teammate are officially ride-or-die packmates. At least according to Rowan. They even have matching near-death scars! And are (presumably) tied for near death experiences. The joys of being Front Line Buddies.

Lizzy has been very chatty the last few days. her first few weeks with us, she only did the silent meow and the occasional squeak, but she's been meowing at us the more we talk to her. I was afraid that the house is going to be eerily quiet without Yoda. it still will be, but Lizzy helps.

Yoda is not showing any symptoms or discomfort. the plan at this point is to let him go on the 30th. we watch him like a hawk in the meantime. if he shows any signs of declining or being uncomfortable / in pain, we do it sooner. this continues to suck.
