It’s a beautiful route, except when the 8:28am to Tarneit Station doesn’t show up

Had a wonderful bus trip today to celebrate the first Sunday service of the 536 bus route in 30 odd years. Great to have Kathleen Matthews-Ward, the state MP for the area, along to celebrate the achievement

I think there was a bit of an argument at Friday’s Critical Mass in Melbourne, but that was more to do with poor corking at the start. Normally drivers understand the situation and accept it pretty quickly.

I think he had a series of ex-campaign tees like the guy from Planet America on ABC News. He either ran out of tees, or wanted to be taken more seriously for RedBridge reasons.

I’m not saying I want this, but there is a legitimate path that Moira Deeming could do the following: 1. Leave the Liberal Party 2. Join One Nation 3. Run in the Vic Election 4. Become Premier Like, who within the conservative side of Vic Politics that would join One Nation has a higher profile?

I hope that, considering the H5N1 bird flu arrival to Australia, that the Victorian Labor government would look at banning duck hunting, at least temporarily, until the bird populations are through the worst of it

I argue that in 2026, no change in Australian daytime tv can be considered a ‘major’ shake-up. It’s like saying there’s a major shake-up of deck chairs on the titanic
Updated Media & marketing
Today show host Karl Stefanovic to leave Nine after Tommy Robinson podcast fallout
The decision clears the way for a major shake-up of breakfast television, but also risks attracting the ire of the presenter's new army of conservative backers.

There’s need to be a less cringe way of saying ‘mainstream media’ because when I say things like ‘Australian mainstream media is a rightwing propaganda machine’ it should sound less tin foil hat conspiratorial and more statement of fact

Got to be honest with you, non-compulsory voting is one of those things that is so strange to me. The idea that people want to protect their ‘freedom’ to not vote comes across as very successful brainwashing

Bubbles can be stubbornly slow to pop, but when this one does it won’t be as avoidable as the 2001 dot com bubble, and Western economies no longer have utilities to sell to pay out the businesses like the 2008 sub-prime mortgage crisis

Instagram plus has an air of desperation around it. Happy to take theories around why Meta is going down this path? 1st thought is too many bots, and 2nd is needing to pay for Meta AI

The UN General Assembly has passed a resolution declaring transatlantic slavery a grave crime against humanity and calling for reparations (some 12.5m African people were taken as slaves). The US and Israel voted no; Australia abstained (among others including the EU countries, UK, Canada).

So here I am thinking that seeing the occasional R rated video clip from Gaza or Iran is just an 'on the internet' thing and main stream media is reporting business as usual, then I turn on Aljazeera to see a 2 year with cigarette burns on his legs after he was tortured by the Israeli Military.

For me, I reckon a fortnightly pick up is better than needlessly higher rates for more pick ups
We're planning to change how often we collect your rubbish bin in 2027

In June, Council will make a final decision about a proposed change to kerbside rubbish bins.
From July 2027, we are planning to change rubbish bin collections from weekly to fortnightly and provide households with a larger rubbish bin. Food and garden organics (FOGO) bins will still be picked up every week.
There will be no changes to your other bins.
We want to make sure you understand the proposed change, the reasons behind it, and the support available to manage it.
Why are we planning to change to fortnightly rubbish collections?
Fortnightly rubbish collections will keep costs down for ratepayers and reduce waste sent to landfill. 26 Victorian councils have already successfully made this change.
We have been rolling out changes to our kerbside waste service in stages since 2022. This will be the last stage.
We have learnt from local trials
We have been trialling fortnightly rubbish collections in parts of Hadfield, Brunswick and Brunswick West.
We provided trial properties with larger rubbish bins to suit their needs.
They are putting more food waste into weekly food and garden organics bins, instead of fortnightly rubbish bins. and are paying less than those with weekly rubbish collections.
Tell us how we can help you
If this change proceeds (subject to Council's June 2026 decision), we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone. Tell us how else we could support you during the change which would occur following Council's June decision.

Feedback is welcome until Sunday 26 April 2027.

Really sick of politicians saying ‘let me be clear’ and then dodging a question. This phrase is the 2020s equivalent of Keating’s repeating a word a couple of times to emphasise his point, only this time ‘let me be clear’ only replaces saying ‘uhhhhmmmm’ before a weaselly sentence

A stupid decision that is already reviled. If the RBA could work slightly harder than ‘price up = interest rates up’ that would work well
