I ordered a new IYILO Level 2 J1772 EV charger that is supposed to arrive today. It is replacing an old 1st Gen Tesla Wall Connector that uses NACS. The Tesla charger had no WiFi capability (plus it is just old). My 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5N has a CCS J1772 port. iyilo.shop/collections/...

A number of EV models have the ability to make fake engine noises and also behave as if they have a transmission (which actually slows them down a little). Most of the noise is in the cabin. This can be entertaining for some people, and it can also be easily turned off. I don't see the harm.

EREVs are such a regressive mistake, but some automakers are just caving to recycled and unfounded FUD about range anxiety. Everyone I have known who has bought/leased their first EV had some initial range anxiety, but they quickly get over that with some driving experience.

The average person doesn't know what a data center looks like or what it does. What is new is the flood of new, much larger AI-focused data centers with much higher power and cooling requirements. Some of those are very noisy 24x7 because of the power and cooling required.

It may just be the batteries, which are Energizer Ultimate Lithium. They are nearly five years old, but my battery tester claims they are still fine. I'll try replacing them first. The detectors are "supposed" to last 10 years.
