Why are they not testing to ensure it’s not misaligned before launching it?

Meta AI is just not something I trust. And here’s a damn good reason why you shouldn’t either. #AI #Muse

Watched too much "AI is coming to kill humanity" videos. Does that mean I've stopped believing it? No, I still very much believe it's a problem. I just need to give my brain some "touch-grass" moments.

Weird. ChatGPT keeps throwing a pop-up encouraging me to "explore sites", I must of dismissed it 4-5 times now.

"Google didn't consider it necessary to disclose the incidents earlier because its model stopped the hacking upon learning the companies were real" I don't think it should be up to the tech companies themselves whether its reportable or not www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09... #AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang disagrees with the dangers people have been warning about AI and the idea of needing to slow it down. Keep in mind, this is someone whose biggest customers are AI companies who have been buying countless chips needed to grow both the scale and computing power. #AI

The way I'm seeing it, every AI company is saying yes we all need to slow down but at the same time are saying they are the one true company determined to get AI right. All trying to race to the top of the hill before their competitors. That's a problem. #AI

If independent third parties have audited reports finding evidence of this kind of rogue behaviour, it's not being a doomer. It's factual evidence. The time for AI companies to unilaterally lock in on getting control on this stuff is yesterday. #AI

Is it just me or are light coloured wallpapers on iOS 27 no longer a good idea on account of the icons like wifi and battery not auto-changing to a darker colour anymore? Or did I miss something? #iOS27

It's kinda a neat little UI touch that my iPhone now shows a little red visual ping effect if my phone battery is 15% or lower. I'm one of those people who always have my phone charged, but I like the effect.

Tristan brings up a good point. We can't get 1200 humans to agree to do the same thing. A swarm of 1200 AI agents agreeing on the same goal instantaneously is scary. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JbD... #AI

In the original 1989 Batman movie, the Joker takes over the tv airways with his own ad .... "Oh uh, he don't look too happy, he's been using Brand X"
Scene from the original Batman 1989 movie where the Joker is in a TV ad explaining that a guy tied up and gagged isn't "too happy" because he's been using a Brand X product, the Joker is pointing to a product with the literal words "Brand X" on it

A lot of work. But working hard to make it to launch day (the name of the social media platform and a waitlist will be announced soon).

Also will be working towards getting a native phone app completed both for android and iOS #socialmediaplatform #startup #socialmedia

- Will be invite code only at launch for a while
 - Invite codes will be given out to existing members to give out (controlled rate of sign-ups)
 - No algorithm trying to serve the platform; the platform serves the user Phew! 😮‍💨

- Reporting available to users if they sight something that goes against community guidelines
 - Switch between multiple accounts
 - Verification tick (you can’t buy these)
 - Age estimation check on sign-up (required by Australian law, takes a short video, can tell a fake attempt to get around)

The thing is, I don't think these hacks by AI are malicious in nature. The problem is it's just dangerously persistent in trying to solve a task given to it, a task that in no way says "hey break into this" to achieve the task given to it. AI companies need to work on that.

This is a more concerning development. For non-programmers. RubyGems is a library of packages developers can use in their applications. The use of any of these malicious packages could further spread it's reach on the internet. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...

That also includes putting the onus back on social media companies to have a duty of care to actively remove harmful content, rather than being REactive when they're asked to take that kind of content down.

I welcome this change to be honest. For too long the algorithms have been serving the platform and not the people. Giving people a choice empowers them to improve their feed. No algo = good and its something I've been working on with my own platform I'm building #socialmediaplatforms

Social media platforms to be forced to offer algorithm opt-out
Social media companies would be required to give users a choice to turn off their algorithm through pop-up messages, under draft laws to be unveiled by the government later this week.

Also props to @safety.bsky.app for upholding their community guidelines for everyone. Everyone has the right not to feel harassed or bullied by anyone on the platform.
000
GlenCodes @glencodes.dev · 03/09/2026
For example, in the community guidelines, theres a section that covers it pretty damn well: 2. Respect Others B Anti-Harassment Parts i, iii a, iii b and iii c And finally, just don't be a fucking shitty person to others. It's a douche move.

GlenCodes @glencodes.dev · 03/09/2026
People saying they don't see "dogpiling" in the community guidelines. "Oh, you didn't put in the word dogpiling, sorry, guess that means I can continue being a shitty person to my fellow humans" Are you for real? Do you hear yourself? Instead of nitpicking the absence of words, READ the doc.

Social media platforms should not repeatedly ask if users want to sync their phone contacts. One no should be enough. Or better yet let the user choose to initiate that, not the platform.

@discord.com's blocking feature is terrible. Instead of removing that person out of sight out of mind, they just hide the messages. So every time a "blocked message" message comes up, you're constantly reminded of the awful interaction you had. And you can "unhide" a message? Also not helpful.

Are you kidding me? Peter Cullen (guy who voiced Optimus Prime) has also passed away? This week has been brutal with celebrity deaths. I grew up watching Transformer cartoons and tempered a strong sense of right and wrong looking up to his Optimus. This one hits especially hard. RIP Peter/Optimus 💔

Update on building my own social media platform: - Video age verification on sign up works (necessary as I'm in Australia and laws here require it - but im setting the bar higher at 18 not 16) - AI is doing an excellent job at preventing text-based and image-based content on a range of things

It's unfortunate that it had to get to the point of being taken to court and paying out massive amounts of money in order to agree to make meaningful changes to their own social media platforms.

RIP Tim Curry. He was an excellent Pennywise (among many other roles he played). I didn't realise he did Rocky Horror Picture Show as a stage musical before he reprised the role in the movie. Very talented guy. Peace be with you sir.
