Did you know?... Gladstone's Library has an on site restaurant, Food for Thought, which is open 7 days a week! Open to the public from 10am-5pm each day, our team offers a delicious array of menus for brunch, lunch, treats and afternoon tea. For our residents, we also serve breakfast and dinner.

The author was a famous architect who restored medieval landmarks in France, like Mont St. Michel. His work was a major influence on the Arts and Crafts Movement.

If you have ever dreamed of building your own home from scratch, then this may be the book for you! 💭 ‘How to Build a House’, (1876) is translated from the French edition, written by M. Eugène Viollet le Duc. This book is an ‘architectural novelette’ that covers all aspects of building a house.

This model has ensured that their charitable donations have grown as the businesses have grown, enabling the Foundation to award grants totalling nearly £1.7 billion since its establishment. The most recent financial year 2024-2025 saw the Foundation give away almost £130 million to 2,967 charities.

Established by W. Garfield Weston in 1958 through an endowment of shares in the family business – now known as Associated British Foods plc – the Foundation continues to be guided by the Weston Family. The Trustees, each direct descendants of the founder, play an active, informed role in its work.
