His fellow officers: “Destroy that twink!” San Sebastián:
Guido Reni (Bologna 1575 - Bologna 1642)

St. Sebastian
oil on canvas
Sebastian, an officer in the Praetorian guard dur-ing the time of the emperor Diocletian (284-305 AD), became a Christian and suffered martyrdom at the hands of his fellow officers. Guido Reni uses classical references to focus on the mystical aspects of the episode rather than on Sebastian's suffering. The painting dates from around 1615, and a second version can be seen in the Palazzo

US Gov’t Interferes To Get Foreign Sponsors To Drop Conference Because A Panel Asks If The US Engages In Foreign Information Interference
One of the most bizarre things over the last few years is how two guys, Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi, bumbling around cosplaying as "free speech" experts, have done tremendous damage to free speech. After Elon Musk brought them in to report on the so-called "Twitter Files," the two of them spun up nonsense tales...

Skywatch got another email from Shellenberger. He’s a crank yes, but Canada, Lithuania, and the EEAS pulling their sponsorship definitely speaks to some some sort of political pressure campaign targeting #Disinfo2026 and now I’m worried about if I’ll be able to get home without harassment.
I wrote to you on October 3 about #Disinfo2026 and have not had a reply.
Since then the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to me: "Upon becoming aware of the above-mentioned discussion topics, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania withdrew from any participation in the conference. The Ministry has also formally dissociated itself from the conference content and requested that the organisers remove all references to the Ministry from conference materials, communications, and promotional activitiesiỊại
Andrius Katinas of the Radio and Television
Commission of Lithuania wrote to me that he has withdrawn as a speaker "in light of the differences of opinion that have arisen with the organisers of the
'Disinfo 2026' conference regarding the assessment of the role of the United States."
The conference's sponsors page no longer lists the Lithuanian ministry, Global Affairs Canada or the European External Action Service.
Do you still plan to take part, and what is your response to the ministry's statement and to Mr.
Katinas's?
What have the organizers told you about these withdrawals?
The questions in my October 3 letter stand. I would be glad to talk by phone at 415-710-1042. Please reply by 11 am Eastern today, Tuesday, October 6.A poster with withdrawn sponsors covered up by printer paper

I am the publisher of Public, which reaches 2 million people across all platforms, and I am writing about next week's #Disinfo2026 conference in Vilnius.
The programme lists you as a speaker in "Trust and safety through decentralised platforms" on October 8. The description reads: "This panel explores the operational realities of deploying automated defense tools across decentralised spaces."
The conference's sponsors page lists the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Global Affairs Canada as "main supporters," and the European External Action Service under "with the support of."
The same programme includes a session titled "USA as a FIMI threat: acknowledge, adapt, push back," whose description asks "how did the United States become a FIMI threat for Europe?" It also includes a workshop run by Ghost Shift in which participants
"draw on an operational toolkit (coveringFirst, what do you intend the session to achieve, and what actions will you ask governments, regulators or platforms to take?
Second, is any government, or any organization that receives government money, paying a fee or expenses for your appearance? Which governments, if any, fund your work or your organization's?
Third, have you, or any organization you work with, asked a platform or a regulator to remove, label, demonetize or restrict online content or accounts? If so, which content, and when?
Fourth, do you regard the US government as a source of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) in Europe? Have you had any contact with the State Department or another US agency about your work or this conference?
Fifth, do you, or any organization you work with, operate or advise on online accounts or personas that do not disclose who runs them?
