This morning we went to Domme, which is 250 metres (820 ft) above sea level on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne river. Founded as a stronghold in 1281 by Philip the Bold following his campaign along the Dordogne river, Domme obtained the privilege of minting its own currency. #holiday

This morning we went to the Réserve Zoologique de Calviac which is home to 200 animals (45 species) from 5 geographical areas (Eurasia, Madagascar, South America, Oceania, West Africa).The reserve has established partnerships in France (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), Madagascar, Brazil, Ivory Coast and Nepal.

This afternoon we went to Les Jardins d'eau (admission fee is 9€). Created in 1999, these gardens overlook the unspoiled banks of the River Dordogne. The smells were wonderful. There is also a tea/coffee shop.

Dinan, a medieval town retains a large section of the city walls, part of which can be walked round.Major historical attractions include the Jacobins Theatre dating from 1224, the flamboyant Gothic St Malo's Church, the Romanesque St Saviour's Basilica, Duchess Anne's Tower & Château de Dinan.
