The only surprise from this article is that infoblox thinks it’s an infosec company and WSJ believes them.
"A cloud region losing customer data because of an airstrike-I don't think that's ever happened before," said Doug Madory, head of internet analysis at cybersecurity firm Infoblox.

This is not a temp we see here normally and made the mistake of trying to cycling in this. Made it 4 miles. One positive: few cars.

What the foundation does is amazing but Dolly’s foundation doesn’t pay for the books. They partner with a local organization that pays for the book. The foundation handles administrative expenses. It’s literally in their FAQ.
Why is this not available in my area?
Thank you for reaching out and for your support of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. In order for a program to be available in a community, we must have a local partner to cover the book and mailing cost for a specific geographic area. All other administrative expenses (overhead, selection of books, database, publisher negotiations, and fulfillment of the over 2 million books mailed monthly to five countries) are covered by Dolly and the Foundation. By having the overhead expenses covered, all of the money raised locally goes straight back into the community and allows more children to receive books each month. We are growing every single day, so the program may become available in your community soon!

the picture of my dog the dog spa sent me suggests she is now possessed. (ears up is a good sign for her though)
This image features a medium-sized black dog with a white patch on its chest, sitting on a dark floor and looking up at the camera. The dog has large, pointed ears and is wearing a blue collar. In the background, the lower half of another, darker, curly-haired dog is also visible.

Years ago I started using openstreetmap front ended by organic maps on iOS because it's not trying to sell you ads, you can find what you are looking for and it's more accurate - especially outside the US.

Minneapolis I am in you.
This view of the Minneapolis skyline features several of the city's most prominent skyscrapers under a clear blue sky. On the left stands the Wells Fargo Center, known for its distinctive stepped, art deco-inspired design. Toward the right, the Capella Tower is easily recognizable by the illuminated semicircular "halo" on its roof. The surrounding downtown area is filled with a mix of modern glass facades and traditional high-rises.

Today I learned there are still taxi drivers in San Diego.
Friction point: The California Public Utilities Commission gave Waymo its final permit for San Diego last week, over objections from MTS and MTS's Taxicab Advisory Committee.
• MTS argued the cars could block streets or trolley tracks and that local governments should get to decide whether to allow driverless technology, not the state.
• The taxi committee argued Waymos will hurt jobs.

What tried to kill me today? Some idiot who couldn’t parallel park, two trucks parked in the cycling lane and whatever the hell this is trying to be #cycling
The image shows a multi-story house undergoing construction or renovation, covered in scaffolding. The exterior appears to be in the process of being stuccoed or painted gray. There is a blue portable toilet and a utility trailer parked on the left side, and a low brick wall runs along the front of the property. A street sign at the corner indicates the intersection of Raejean and Casement.

People are bad at judging risk. News at 11. sentientmedia.org/chatgpts-wat...
The point isn't that Al is harmless, but rather that people are bad at estimating the environmental impacts of their own actions. This is one particularly glaring example of that, and it matters because many people sincerely do want to reduce
their environmental footprints. But we can't do that if we're not armed with accurate information. For the average person who wants to use less water, chatbots shouldn't be the end of your inquiry,
and eating less meat would be an excellent and highly effective place to start.

Logging into mastodon for the first time in months and one of the first posts I see in response to Linus AI statement is comparing using AI to using torture Completely sane place.
The argument that "Al works therefore we should use it" is akin to
"Torture works therefore we should use it."
I don't mean that as hyperbole.

Every time I log into mortgage website for our house I get this message to "lower my payment" and am reminded how insane mortgage costs are now. Bought this house in 2019 and refinanced in 2020. My mortgage payment is $2k. I'm rather sure my neighbor is paying $10k+ a month for a smaller house.

My parents grew up in Southwest Minnesota and the family used to use own/operate several farms covering thousands of acres throughout the area. And some of that acreage that use to grow corn is now ... golf courses. 9 or 18 holes. On former farm land. Data centers are not the problem.
