I love this vision for a fall day! Why do I feel a sudden temptation to forget everything I really need to get done today and hop into a canoe?!?!?!

Went canoeing on a pond in Massachusetts surrounded by trees with leaves changing color, and dotted with lillypads ALSO CHANGING COLOR!!! The water was so still that it perfectly reflected the big white fluffy clouds in the sky. Like drifting into a painting.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

Ugh. All the Jews in the Czach village my grandfather left before the war were loaded onto a single train on a single day, all to their deaths. I would not exist if my grandfather had still been there. I would not be speaking German... or anything else.

Surely there's a company other than Amazon that sells kids' watches... but I admittedly have a lot of requirements. Digital, not smart, ideally no plastic (but if I have to cave on something, I guess this is it), and yeah... not on Amazon. Help.

i think a study of Kansas democrats who have won statewide and congressional district races in the last 10 years would be illuminating. Current governor Laura Kelly, current 3rd district congresswoman Sharice Davids (who is also indigenous + LGBTQ), mayyyyybe Adam Hamilton... we shall see.

This just in: I stopped re-reading 1984. I’m just gonna read the news instead. However, I will say, re-reading just a little reminded me how important the centralization of economic power in govt hands was to that particular dystopia. There is also a lot of dust!!! Like seriously, so much dust.

The Hannukah Barbie’s nose is not that big, I would have been more offended if they’d given her one of those bubbly little noses the other Barbies have. I’ve at times been upset by noses on fictional Jewish kids (Sesame Street Hannukah book illustrations are 😱) but this one feels ok to me.

The departure is the hardest part. Once you actually get into the groove of what it is you're doing on your own, those feelings settle a bit (that was my experience, anyway). Coming home feels so good, too! Something to look forward to when you feel that tug. Sending all the good vibes.
