When I was in junior high me and a group of friends called into KROQ 106.7 here in LA and successfully got on air, for my first and only time. We proceeded to request "Detachable Penis"

My 8 year old just spent the last 10 minutes railing against CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (2006) and how WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971) is superior for multiple reasons including Gene Wilder, the Oompa Loompas, and the use of real sets. 🥹That's my kid🥹

I have never in my life watched a soccer game beyond a few scattered minutes. I started following this World Cup a little. Got stoked by Mexico's last win and the ensuing celebrations. I am now watching Mexico vs England doing the Standing-Dad-Watch and yelling at the TV.

Last night I experienced MANHUNTER: THE FINAL CUT in the best theater in Los Angeles, followed by a Q & A with Michael Mann himself, and topped it off with the private reception in his honor, getting to briefly speak with him. Not a bad evening!

Nothing beats @brightwalldarkroom.com when it comes to film writing. In a world of "optimizing SEO" & worse they are the epitome of "for the love of the game." If you can swing it, please subscribe. If you can't, spread the word. No matter what, read them.

I'm hosting this event w/ @pfischer.bsky.social & @drewmcweeny.com on Monday! When I heard about Paul's book, I quickly reached out to the pub & luckily we figured out a date for the store. Then they said Drew was in & my 'stoked' level doubled. So don't miss it! This Monday at 7pm. It's 4/20!

It’s the goof of all time. Look, but don’t touch. Touch, but don’t taste. Taste, don’t swallow. And while you’re jumping from one foot to the next, what is He doing? He’s laughing his sick, fucking ass off. He’s a tight-ass. He’s a sadist. He’s an absentee landlord. Worship that? Never!

Me & @kevmpk.bsky.social worked overnight 'set security' on Bubba-Ho-Tep. One early morning, we were playing frisbee in the parking lot. A car pulls up, Bruce gets out of the passenger side, sees us, and says, "Working hard or hardly working?" It was perfect. Fuck cancer. Hail to the king, baby.

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them

Our internet was down this morning & my 7 year old's tablet wasn't charged, so I told her I can put a DVD on. She asked if she could load it so I guided her on how to do it safely. Then, in a moment that warmed my heart she said "This is so cool!" And it was a movie she is already a fan of 😭💓

The back of a child's head sitting on a couch with a television that has Cary Elwes in The Princess Bride on. There is a Christmas tree with lights on the right and a shelf with DVDs & miscellany next to it. Ttere are numerous framed posters and photos on the wall above and to the left of the TV.

I saw THE PRINCESS BRIDE in theater in '87. I was 7 or 8. Instantly quotable. Watched it over & over again on VHS. Last year I got to show it to my daughter and she loved it too. The gift of a timeless classic. And Rob Reiner had multiple. I just can't fathom this tragedy. RIP to a legend.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing. All from his movies.

Rob Reiner was a master storyteller whose gifts transcended genre & scope, from larger than life adventure to intimate horror to childlike wonder and beyond. He was truly one of one. As you wish.

RIP to the legend Diane Keaton. The confession scene in The Godfather 2 is one of the greatest screen acting scenes of all time. Keaton's "Oh Michael" is the key that opens the door to her unbridled honesty that saves her soul and destroys what's left of his.
