1/3 “Really inspiring! Never seen anything like this before. This has been so interesting. The best workshop I’ve been to!” We had a great time presenting the @agentskahlodali.bsky.social at the University of Bristol International Child and Family conference today.
A colour photo of two people standing in front of a long vertical banner. On the left a tall white man in his 30s wearing an orange Fedora hat a large fake bushy black handlebar moustache a short sleeved navy shirt with red lobster print and orange shorts. He is smiling and pointing excitedly at the banner. The banner is white and says in blue international child and family conference. In front of the banner leaning slightly on a table is a small white woman in her 40s. She is wearing an orange head scarf tied in a bow on top of her head, white plastic framed sunglasses and a short sleeved purple tunic with white embroidery on the front over a leopard print jumpsuit.A colour photograph of a seminar room in a university. In the foreground on a white table resting on a table top easel is a teal circular logo with white writing saying CIA company of international artists. Next to the logo on the right black old-fashioned telephone with a lobster attached to the handset. Also on the table several plastic magnifying glasses in red yellow and blue. Slightly out of focus on the wall behind a PowerPoint presentation with the same circular teal logo in the centre and the words top-secret in red can just be seen.

“It’s been brilliant!” I recently finished a series of weekly storytelling workshops I’ve been running on behalf of Bristol Improv Theatre at Filwood Community Centre for the last 2 months. We explored many improv techniques and how these can be deployed in lots of different creative contexts.
A colour photograph of two people in a community space doing a theatre improv exercise. On the left of south Asian man in his 30s wears loose black cotton trousers over a black knee length tunic. He has dark short hair and a dark beard and stands hunched over leaning on an imaginary walking stick. Caught The People’s Carriage by Dhaquan. Collective today. Within a large Bristol cab you’re surrounded by voices, music & ambience as you hear interviews with Bristol’s taxi drivers. I hope it tours one day to other parts of the city, especially the places that are name-checked in the interviews.

Dhagan Collective presents
The People's Carriage
Wednesday 7-Thursday 8 May 20225
What can a taxi ride tell you about a city?
Step into the intimate world of Bristol's cab drivers in The People's Carriage - a captivating immersive sound and light installation that traces their journeys across the city. Through music, personal narratives, and the varying shades of passenger encounters, this project uncovers Bristol's many layers, through the voices of those who know it's streets best.
The People's Carriage is part of Confluence - a long-form residency project. Since December 2023, MAYK has invited artists from across Bristol to explore the changing city and to think about how we navigate these places we call home. Over the next few months three more artists - Howl Yuan, Ramelle Williams and Iman Sultan-West - will also share the fruits of these creative investigations with audiences in sites and locations across the city.
Duration: 35 minutes
Triggers: Please kindly note the piece touches on stabbings, sexual harassment, violence and war.

Made a suggestion to some primary schools yesterday using this artwork as a stimulus. Me: What if you want to eat his nose because it’s a pear? Student 1: (visibly shocked) ugh, what? Student 2: very worldly-wise) It’s drama. It’s supposed to be mental.
An oil painting of a head and shoulders in profile facing to the left constructed entirely of fruit and plants: torso is a wooden barrel, face is made of pears, apples, grapes. A wheat-ear beard. A mushroom ear. The head is a white squash and the hair is vine leaves. Black background.

Making The Mexico Mission! was absolutely a team effort. But I did do all the sound design and music, so it was really affirming to see two young people from different performances write this on their feedback. (I’d share a bit of the music, but I don’t want it scraped by AI)
Photo of two handwritten feedback forms completed after a theatre show. One says 10/10 music was great. acting fabulous. The other says I really liked the music and that is was interactive.
