April has arrived, although sometimes I doubted it would. Our weather has been variable this week, as has my clothing. On, off, on, off, hot, cold, hot, cold. Wednesday I was in full waterproofs, n…

My Little Garden 28th March 2026 As we reach the last weekend in March, the garden is starting to look rather exciting. I’ve sneaked a few extra tulip shots into the collage, because a new one is …

I may have been a little cocky about the weather last week. My prideful fall inevitably came, but luckily I didn’t plummet too far. It has turned significantly colder, that is true, it has al…

There has been no “ready”, there has been no “steady”, there has just been “GO!” A few days absent, a few days of warmth and suddenly the garden has gone into hy…

I believe we are allowed at least one “On Tour” Six on Saturday a year, perhaps many more. At the moment I am staying with my friend Dorcester Doris, in a town not far from where severa…

My Little Garden 28th Feb 2026 The last day of February is here, and I’m happy to report that we’ve had a mild week with a few dry days. Gardening has been done at last! I keep looking at my very …

I’ve been lacking inspiration. I have been bored with the weather, the enforced incarceration, myself. However, this week I found some va va voom again or at least some voom. And it is all th…

The rain that we so desired arrived with unseasonably windy weather, which had categorically not been invited to the party. Whilst most of the garden suffered no ill effect, including sunflowers an…

The weatherman on our local TV channel, a dapper chap called Derek, described yesterday as “toastie”. I liked that. There is something comforting there, something reassuring and innocuo…

July, who’d have thought it? It will soon be school holidays (better journey to work for me), Peggy’s birthday (cream teas, always good), rain, Tour de France (niche, I know). Oh, and g…

I was talking with Welsh John yesterday about how we can all make a difference in this world. However small it might be, every positive action counts. All those little pluses add up to one humdinge…

Words are rubbish. They fail me continually. When heartbreak happens to people I care for, words refuse to help. I want to soothe, to reassure, to find a way forward, all to no avail. This is pure …

It is all getting a little blurry now. Blurry in a cartoon passage of time way. The rain has caused good and bad to spurt, the wind (combined with above rain) has assaulted the delicate ones and th…

I’m sure Peggy would write a note for me if needed, but I am equally confident you will believe that I missed last week’s SoS because my back was being a diva. It had started to grumble…

A problem has been resolved this week, one which was out of our control but was both niggling and invasive. We do not own any of the fences surrounding our garden. Horrah! you might think, no maint…

We are home again after last weekend’s exploits. This week has been busy catching up with work and stuff “that can wait until we get back”. The back boiler was overflowing. Today …

Usually I take my photos and write some of my Six on Saturday the day before, tweaking  and posting on Saturday morning. No great scandal there. This week is different. I am not here. I am som…
