As a low profile, regular follower, I'm sorry to hear this. Yours was a voice I looked for on that place & here, for many years. Thank you for sharing your perspective on subjects from Brexit to Leeds United! I wish you & your colleagues all the best & hope to see you on here for the foreseeable.

Yeah ok, this got me to follow him

Missing a trick here, surely they'd PPV livestream on OnlyFash?

Same but the last one is "... use a printer"

He was fun on there. Still find (ever more infrequent) times I miss the bird app.

... / SYL / DT sleaze/investigations whether Parliamentary or criminal will make some pause for reflection. A severe GOP mid-term defeat may also weaken America's grip on our public discourse. If the last decade is anything to go by, it'll all continue to get worse but maybe we can hope again 😉

FWIW I think the Reform/Restore combined ceiling is 20-25% in a GE, however they pitch. Labour offering AB's vision/discussion points (electoral reform, EU, Care, rail, water), Kemi calling R/R out as racist - draws lines, may focus electorate on substance more than rhetoric. Add in Reform ...

I had this bit about Jeffrey Archer from the 1995 HIGNFY video memorised for whenever I needed a handy fact about him.

You may have to narrow down posts like this, this time it wasn't the 'one' we're looking out for tbh.

When in reality, I just followed you for both

Think of all those fighter jets the UK sells to Manchester City (oops, I mean the UAE)

Me & Mrs G specifically didn't go to the world cup as we'd originally planned bc of the orange lunatic, cruelty & corruption. Weren't personally fearful of anything, just... wouldn't go there. It will take the USA a long time after he's gone to remove the stain of those who stood by & nodded along.

A belter of a graphic, this ⬇️

He was ok, everyone was, tbh. But the game changed with the 🟥 TAA had little defensive work to do after 25-mins, pundits are mostly going on about his cross for Lady Di's goal. No way he intended the cross to bounce the way it did, IMHO it was a mis-hit that needed a clever header.

Thanks Stephen, that makes sense. Appreciate you taking the time to reply 👍

I was just thinking that 🤔 Can someone help me with the maths here 🙏 Assuming they all earn UK median FTE £40k, that's £5-6k income tax plus maybe £2-3 NIC; say they spend the rest on VAT-able goods, another £6-7k. I'm sure Sam has this right, what am I missing?

Martin Gilson @gilbo41.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Yep, daily. Don't be put off by low engagement numbers, very few bots here. Good #lufc chat plus many left-leaning political commentators. And very, very few nazis.

I was being polite 😉 Clear to all that a 'fit & proper' test needed to be applied to the FA first, *then* to would-be club owners...

Unfortunately for their fans, the sporting aspect is (& always was) secondary for the owners. Staying in PL with frequent European qualification keeps the ground full & replica sales going £££. The time to worry was when it first went public in the 90's.

It's like McDonald's not being a burgers biz, it's a property empire. Maccy D's makes its $$$ from leasing restaurants. The Glazers core biz is selling branded merchandise. They don't care about the ⚽️ side hustle. And if it hadn't been them, the alternative (cf. Ratcliffe) would've been the same.

As said in the thread, when Man U was a plc, they were, by definition, for sale to anyone. The takeover was textbook: borrow money against the future asset thereby turning a once debt-free company into a cash machine loaded with debt. It works if the turnover covers the cost of servicing the debt.

Apparently it was Eddie Gray's 500th #lufc game - not sure I knew that, tbh.

Oh, those two goals really hurt! Especially after Shezza's free kick...

I framed the pic from the Telegraph sports section, day after we won the league. Still have this on my wall at home. Meant a lot, still does. MOT x

Great memories & I was there for some. Hodge in a 1-0 vs Liverpool 1991 was great for me personally as I was going through a tough time. I only got to a few games that season (Chelsea 3-0 was another) winning the league couldn't have been better timed for the lift it gave me.

H-bomb, Hart, Hird, Harris. My first time at ER, in the Kop. Grew up near Ipswich, was 16 & travelled up on their supporters coach. Last back on the coach, they'd moved it during the game & held it for me as I hadn't heard the announcement. Scarf out on the way back, I wasn't very popular, lol.

Yep, that one for me too. Thank you for saving me trawling YouTube for the video!

No UK parliament can bind its successor. If the political will is there e.g., we rejoined & the party led by Farage's son gets a 100 majority at the following election, our system lets them govern as they wish. EU has enough issues of its own, it would need a stable UK before contemplating rejoin.

Martin Gilson @gilbo41.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Obvs, but he'll do that anyway. I assume Burnham / Mahmood took the view that directly commenting on everything these thugs do exacerbates coverage, better to let police do policing. I don't necessarily agree & many would respond differently but it's a no-win situation for Gov't.

Martin Gilson @gilbo41.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Precisely this. I always donate to the RBL appeal but only wear a poppy on 11/11 if at all.
